Businesses Improperly Posting 51% Signs

In the city of South Padre Island, Tx, the grocery store and all the Stripes gas stations have 51% signs posted. Right next to the 51% signs are the signs stating that "it is a crime to consume liquor or been on these premises". The 51% signs mean that the business derives 51% or more of it's revenue from on site alcohol consumption, so clearly these two signs conflict. I find it strange that so many business in this particular town all have the same incorrect signage. What is the proper route, or who do I contact, in which department to get this corrected. I've tried talking to the people at the stores but they have no idea what I'm talking about and just give me blank stares and mumble about that's what they were told to put up. Thanks for the help.

First off, welcome to the forum.
And, contact the TABC Local Field Office for your area and they will contact the store and have the issue corrected.

Is the "51%" red or blue on these signs?

Welcome to the forum.
If you know you are legal, I wouldn't inform the owner. They could then, put up a 30.06......

IMHO this is a little different than informing a owner that has a "gun buster" sign up. If you file an online complaint at TABC and keep it REAL simple (i.e. "I just can't understand all these signs, I am soooo confused") I think the odds of a 30.06 sign going up about zero.

Yes. Don't mention guns. Say the signs are confusing or they don't make sense for the business or something like that.

Visited this morning and there was only the "no consumption of alcohol sign on premises". I barely saw it. It's on the inside of a dark brown tinted window. The NLRB warning signs were very visibly posted on the door, though. Got a big breakfast taco for $1.49. Egg and Bacon Tacos are 99 cents, but I had sausage. Regular gas was$ 2.89.

Free with the chorizo and egg taco.

Not to hijack the thread, but what's the point of these signs? They basically translate as "it's illegal to break the law" as far as I can tell.

They are an old legal requirement, pre-dating CHL, to remind people that it is a felony to carry in a licensed establishment even though it is only a misdemeanor elsewhere.
