What Would You Do?

Lets say my wife and I are going out to dinner with another couple and this other couple is not aware that I carry and we are going in their vehicle. We are all in out late 60's and I prefer they do not know that I (and soon my wife) do not carry. Anyway, lets say he gets stopped for speeding or something and at some point the LEO asks the driver if there are any guns in the car. He says no because that"s what he thinks and I don't say anything because he never asked me anything to include my ID. Under these circumstances, would you all do the same thing?
I got to thinking about this because of the MPA in that I wonder if more officers at traffic stops automatically ask if there are guns in the car.

The driver answered the question to the best of his knowledge and ability.
You were not asked a question, so you had no obligation to say anything.
Not legal advice, just my opinion.

I'd keep my mouth shut.
The LEO isn't asking you any questions.
The driver is not lying, since he doesn't know any better.

Now here comes the more complicated question ...
Same scenario, but instead of traffic stop the other couple decides hey let's go to:
a) a bar
b) a place with a valid 30.06 sign
NOW what do you do? Best to think out these possibilities BEFORE you're in that situation and have that deer-in-headlights look your face and don't know what to do.
Idea: be sure you can discreetly disarm, place gun in a (preferably lockable) container (or just a bag, purse) and ask driver if you can leave the container locked in the trunk.

Yep A-R I have thought of those scenarios. Can"t conceive of us going to a bar. If by chance we came upon a 30.06 venue I would come up with something or may have to blow my cover, so to speak. We seem to go back to the same 3 or 4 restaurants and all they have are the blue and white signs.

You can either:
a) Find a better venue were these will not be an issue. Then sway the remainder of the party.
b) Despite what some here and elsewhere might say. Having a CHL is not some highly classified super secret squirrel thing. Rather it is something that requires a limited level of discretion. So be up front with the owner of the vehicle and tell them you have your firearm. It is his vehicle after all and he has a right to know what is in it. And if the owner of the vehicle has an issue with you or your firearm it leaves you with a couple of options. End the evening, find a different venue, be returned to your vehicle and continue the evening.
When problem solving do not over complicate the issue. Most problems have simple solutions but more often the not people have a hard time seeing the forest for the trees.

If I'm going out with other people I usually know where we're going in advance and would object when they suggested a place where I can't carry. If they insist on going to a bar it's easy to make other plans tonight and hang out with them some other time.
I don't worry about 30.06 signs because I haven't seen one in two years except at anti-gun shows, so I stopped going to those shows and don't have a problem anymore.

I drive myself so I can go home when I want. I have yet to see a resturant with a 30.06 sign.

Non-issue with us. All of our friends are armed and almost all have their CHLs.

Like michael says, I drive myself mainly for this reason. Was a passenger once and wound up at a bar while carrying. Thankfully the driver was a good friend and let me stash my pistol in the trunk. Since then I drive myself.

The instructor at my CHL class said for this very situation "sit there and shut up."
