Unarmed For The Weekend
I just arrived in the DFW metro and had to make the trip unarmed. I meeting my son at the Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth in the AM and have no place to leave my guns. We are attending the Izod IRL race Saturday and then back to the JRB. I keep feeling like I am missing something. Oh well, I am sure that if I only venture into Gun Free Zones we will be safe.

I'll see you at the race...
You'll recognize me by my jitteryness at being disarmed in a crowd of drunken race fans.

Re: Unarmed For The Weekend
Just spent a week unarmed in CO visiting inlaws. They're Cali transplant hippies and to avoid issues I left the guns at home. I did take a CRKT m21 so I wasn't totally helpless but it wasn't the most fun I've ever had.

Re: Unarmed For The Weekend
I am spending several days in a gun free zone so I have spent the last 2 days wondering what I am forgetting. Getting dressed today I realized it is my side arm. It is like losing your watch or ring! While we are enjoying our stay it will be nice to get home and be "fully dressed" again

Re: Unarmed For The Weekend
Just had a little mini vacation to Houston and Galveston and was very happy to see all of the places we visited were gun friendly or at least not posted.
I also have to say i'm glad to see all of the state parks and monuments have stayed CHL friendly.

Re: Unarmed For The Weekend
When I went to Florida last month for 6 days, I left my gun at home. Absolutely hated it. But, I hate flying, luggage check ins, and TSA even more than I hated leaving the gun at home. I felt the same way too about being disarmed. The next time, I'm driving. That was the first time in a couple of years that I've flown, and it was as miserable as I thought it would be. And it's not just because I have a size XXX derriere, but they actually DID make the seats smaller than the last time I flew. Even my physical therapist who is a mere slip of a girl said they're too narrow for her comfort.

Re: Unarmed For The Weekend
I was at the races this weekend as well... I left my .380 in the truck and enjoyed the race.
Ironically, there were two tall, clean-cut, middle-aged white males that sat right in front of me temporarily, both of which were wearing plaid button-down short-sleeve shirts. They actually looked like twins. As the guy on the left sat down, his shirt tail went wayyy up, completely exposing a holstered sidearm at his 4 o'clock. I'm not sure what model handgun it was, but I would guess a small caliber Ruger or Taurus carried in a slick and shiny black leather OWB holster. I think I was the only one that noticed, because I asked my buddy next to me, and he saw nothing.
I was FURIOUS... only at the fact that I couldn't legally carry one too. I looked them both up and down for a badge, but didn't see one. I can only assume they were off-duty cops seeing as the one that exposed the handgun was wearing a tan 5.11 hat. Then again... I have a hat very similar to the one he was wearing, so he could be just as easily carrying illegally... and it wouldn't bother me a bit.
We need to change the laws regarding prohibited places on 2013!!!

Re: Unarmed For The Weekend
So good to be back in Texas - Enjoyed the DC trip immensely, but good to be home! My Sweet hubby knew that I was feeling a bit underdressed and picked us up at the airport with my IWB holster and .380 knew I kept him around for a reason! Thanks Middle Age Russ!
