Basically, the gist is, by paying an ongoing retainer fee, you get quick-access to lawyers in the event you ever need to use your gun in self-defense, whether you actually need to shoot or not. They represent you throughout the investigation, grand jury, and trial (both criminal and civil), all w/o fees.

In light of recent news and the times we live in, it seems like being in the right is no longer good enough, and depending on where you live and how zealous your DA is, you may end up having to have a lawyer, even in the most justified circumstances.
