received the notice

#1

Post by VoiceofReason »

Just received the notice of my CHL renewal. Was reading the code and noticed GC §411.195 reduces the fee 50% for senior citizens over 60 and GC §411.1951 reduces the fee 50% for veterans honorably discharged over a year.

I am a veteran over 60. Do ya think? Naaaaaaa.

Might be fun to try though. I might, except I don’t want my license renewal held up. ;-)
God Bless America, and please hurry.

if you apply DC logic to the equation
one would or could imply you get it for free :biggrinjester:
I am a veteran and did my initial at 1/2 price

would be funny if you checked both boxes and got a new one gratis

what is the worst they could say???

It's been tried. My CHL instructor tried to no avail.

Yeah, you can only get one discount. Like in the department stores 'This coupon cannot be applied to sale or already discounted items.' :grumble

Then you're not doing it right. My girlfriend knows the couponing system and was actually paid $2.67 for $128.93 worth of items at Walgreens this past weekend. :cheers2:

I haven't paid $100 total for groceries in the last three months thanks to her extreme couponing.

Sorry, I know I'm hijacking the thread but I had to brag on her.

Veterans deserve better than they have received in many ways.

Anybody who pays property taxes in Texas should get a 50% discount at least. Free would be more fair. Especially if you don't have kids and have to pay ISD taxes, but you're not allowed to carry in ISD buildings.

This has nothing to do with anything but you can get the word "Veteran" imprinted on the front of your TDL. It passed last session and DPS is now set up to do it.

Speaking of nothing, have you seen the ultra-super cool "Heirloom" birth certificate you can get if you are a Native Texan? You don't even have to be over 60 or a veteran! http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/vs/reqproc/heirloom.shtm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just applied for my Texas CHL, am over 60 and a veteran and a Native Texan, and I had to pay only $70. That's a terrific deal compared to what I've had to do here in CA.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

So what happens regarding the discount if I turn 60 on my next birthday, and that happens to also be the expiration date of my current license?
