Verizon Wireless theater 30.06 or 51%

#1

Post by thatguy »

f I'm attending a concert at the Verizon Wireless theater in Houston, can I carry my concealed weapon there? I don't know if they have a 51% sign or a 30.06 sign. On their website, it says no weapons...but anyone can post that on their site, and without the proper display of the 2 above stated signs, I can still carry concealed with a license, right? The law book I have says "Amusement Parks, Racetracks...no weapons allowed" But it's neither one of those. Just curious. If anyone can help me out, that would be great.

The above was a post by one of my clients and was curious if anyone had any info?

Verizon Wireless Theater

30.06 Sign

Above Front Window

Yes

Sign is right above the doors at the entrance. White sign with red letters. Appears to be the proper size.

Also they are a 51% location. Sign is above the bar inside.

Apparently they selectively display the sign. I attended an event at the beginning of Dec. and there was no sign posted.

Yeah I went to the Weird Al concert there a couple months ago. Had to make a walk back to the truck after seeing the sign right above my head as I was about to enter. Its the right verbiage and size, etc. The other CHLers with me had apparently looked it up on texas3006.com and left their stuff in their trucks on the first walk over. Guess I should check places like that more often when I know I'm going somewhere. But things are ok at the Hard Rock next door. They only prohibit nuclear arms :smilelol5:

A quick check of the TABC database says that the 30.06 sign is irrelevant. The license is in the name of Wolfgang Puck Catering @ Verizon Theater and the sign is RED.

The premises are off limits to a CHL.

This is one of those cases where the contractor got the license and it makes the premise off limits even though the overall business is not truly a 51% business.

the verizon wireless theatre is a city owned building, 30:06 does not apply. as far as the 51 % not sure if it is the entire building or not some places it covers the bar area only. the entire area called bayou place is city owned and none of it is 30:06 applicable. The 51 % thing is questionable as the theatre does NOT make a dime from on premise alcohol sales, the city of houston is prohibited by law from deriving income from alcohol sales. BTW I do carry in the theatres all the time as in every day. Asking TABC may be an option, however they will tend to err on the side of its illegal no matter what. By saying that the entire premis is off limits that wold include all other shops within the building and that ain't so

Does anyone have any knowledge of the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie? I'm hoping to go there in July to see Kaskade.

Texas 30.06 doesn't have an entry, but that's no guarantee. According to the Dallas Central Appraisal District, it appears to be owned by the city.
