Students for Concealed Carry on Campus

Looks like SCCC has fallen apart in Texas. They haven't responded to my emails, Facebook messages, etc. Their website hasn't been updated in years. Their Facebook page is dead. Most of their chapters have dissolved. What a shame. I know plenty of other college professors that have wanted to help out with the campus carry cause. :???:

I'm thinking about joining this new organization called Texans for Concealed Carry ([url]http://[spam deleted][/url]) and see if they won't get involved in the campus carry issue. They have a pretty active Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/con [spam deleted]). However, I'm hesitant to join an organization as new as this one. Is anyone else a member of [spam deleted]? I would like to hear what everyone says about it before I join.

I don't know about the inactive for years part. The were very active this past legislative session. They have probably just gone dormant for now since it didn't get passed. I'm sure they will become active again sometime late next year before the next session starts in 2013.

Where were you in the spring for the senate hearings? NRA, TSRA, and SCCC were there but not the group listed. ;-)

Thanks for the responses! A guy from TXCC emailed me back (something SCCC hasn't yet figured out how to do). It seems like a legitimate group for being two months old. A couple of their leaders are former SCCC state and national leaders. Sounds like it is worth trying out.

Chrisrice,

I am the national President of Students for Concealed Carry. I've checked my email, but I don't see any emails from you to me. It's entirely possible that other members have missed your emails, but that's pretty unusual for the people we have as leaders in Texas. Please feel free to email me at anytime at Daniel.Crocker@concealedcampus.org and I'll be happy to speak about any concerns. I'm afraid I don't always spend much time on forums, so you might be better off reaching me that way. I certainly don't want to get into any comparison of organizations and I never speak poorly of other groups, but I believe the record of SCC speaks for itself.
Best,
Daniel Crocker

Chrisrice,

I am glad you are interested in the campus carry movement. My name is Madison Welch and I am the Texas legislative director for Students for Concealed Carry. (http://texas.concealedcampus.org/stateleaders.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

I would check the email address you are using to contact SCCC. I am regretful that you feel neglected - but I can assure you that I nor our state director have received an email from you. We've double-checked our database and cannot find a trace of your email address nor any emails that we may not have responded to by accident.

Please feel free to contact Texas SCC Leadership through texas@concealedcampus.org, or email me personally if you prefer at madison.welch@campuscarry.com. I'd love to talk with you and hear any concerns you may have. Also, please let said professors you previously mentioned know that we would appreciate hearing from them - pass along my contact information if you'd like.

Madison D. Welch

Madison,
I have sent emails to both texas@concealedcampus.org and txsccc@yahoo.com. Either my emails got lost on your server, or you are telling me a lie. The reason I'm not in your "database" (I assume you are talking about Facebook, because I have neither seen nor heard of a database where I can register) is because I removed myself from your Facebook group. I may rejoin next year, but for now, I am going to stick with an organization that better fits our needs. Thank you for responding, however is a shame I had to call you out on this forum to get a response. I hope you will get things turned around before the next session.

I deleted a post from someone responding to you because they called you a liar. Now you too are violating our rules by doing the same.

SCCC is alive and well and your promoting a competing organization apparently founded and run by people who "left" SCCC involuntarily is most enlightening. You joined TexasCHLforum solely to promote this organization and blast SCCC in the process. When people politely responded, you call them liars. You are gone and you won't be missed.

Chas.

For all of you who have been reading this thread...

The database I referred to is my email. I searched my email database to find emails that I may have missed or overlooked. Why in the world would I lie? For an organization that I put my heart soul, tears, sweat, and blood into - I would never lie to jeopardize SCCC's name.

Once again - my personal email is madison.welch@campuscarry.com. Have you tried this email address yet? If a response is what you are searching for, I can certainly provide you with one. But not through a public, respected forum. Personal concerns should be manifested over a personal form of connection. (i.e. my email address, my telephone number, or a personal meeting face-to-face.) And if you have been having trouble reaching me personally - my number is (512) 537 - 6234. I can guarantee a response from that number and my previously mentioned email address.

Chrisrice, along with any and everyone, needs to know that I would never ignore an email/phone call/message from 1) an SCC member 2) someone interested in becoming an SCC member, 3) an opponent to SCC, or 4) all and everyone in between.

If you are looking to slander my personal name - pick a new form of social media, not the Texas CHL forum. That's not what this forum is for or needs. But I will not, I repeat, I will not allow you to slander this organization's name in any shape or form without justice. I have formally apologized that you feel neglected and have yet to receive any contact from you.

Charles, I apologize for the unnecessary and superfluous situation. I have provided multiple forms of contact for anyone who would like to discuss personal matters or any various concerns.
