I haven't fired a pistol in 50 years, but have decided to conceal carry if licensed. I am about to take the course and fire for certification. So I thought I ought to get some practice in before doing that. Back when I was 18 years old and in the Marines, I couldn't hit a barn from the inside with a .45 military issue. I was concerned.
On my third trip to the range with my new Bersa Thunder .380, I still wasn't getting the result I wanted. I was firing well enough to qualify, but not well enough to give me confidence. It just so happened that a swat team was also on the range. After firing at 3, 7, and 15 yards, I took the target over to swat guys and asked what was wrong and how could get better. They looked and agreed that I was putting too much finger in the trigger and my squeeze was causing the gun to yaw to the left. They showed me where to position my trigger finger. I loaded up two mags and fired at 3 and 7 yards. Out of the 14 rounds, 12 were in the 10 ring, with 5 in the "X" ring. The others I jerked one to the 9 ring and the other just on the silhouette. That's 68 out 0f 70 points.
I may be the only "experience lite" poster here. But I post this for others in doubt about qualifying. Just practice and get someone to give you a bit of help.

Glad you're getting back into shooting
Sounds like after a few pointers you're going to do great.
Practice as much as you can and have fun and be safe.

It is great that you are not afraid to ask questions... It is just a coincidence I am posting after RAM4171, as he is a good friend of mine and very knowledgable about CHL-ing. I wear him out with all of my questions!!! And better yet, he answers every one!RAM4171 wrote:Glad you're getting back into shooting
