One-Punch Murder: John Massie Killed In Bizarre Las Vegas Casino Fight
By KEN RITTER 07/ 6/11 08:21 PM ET AP
LAS VEGAS -- A racial comment in the restroom of a Las Vegas Strip casino restroom preceded a single fatal punch that left a tourist from Utah dead and a Florida tourist jailed in Nevada on a murder charge, authorities said Wednesday.
I think this is interesting because imo incidents like this blurr the lines between force and deadly force.

One punch can, indeed, kill. Here's yet another example. This is NOT the first time a person's been killed with one punch.
My other thought was, how can anyone be offended by someone saying "a black man in a yellow shirt"? That sounds like nothing more than a visual description of someone. Had he used a racial epitaph I could understand it, but not that comment.

That must be some fancy casino if even the restrooms have their own restrooms.
Proofreader must have called in sick.

Welcome to the forum rraider, yes instances like these make you question the difference between force and deadly force. I would highly suggest signing up for the next Deadly Force Seminar put on by Charles Cotton, I attended one about a month ago, and even though it was a little bit shorter it was highly informative.

Any type of force can be deadly and don't forget the disparity of force. Not all of us are built equal and I don't run as fast as I used to. At the same time use judgement. Any time you pull a gun is extremely serious and needs to be treated as such. If involved in a physical fight while you are carrying there is a good chance your opponent can grap your weapon and use it on you. Descalation is the best approach.

Where can I find Charle's deadly force schedule and the cost of the course?

As far as the post goes, I would say that an individual has the right to defend himself. One punch does not seem excessive but if there was a 100 pound difference or the guy was a prize fighter that would be a different story.
All in all it is sad to see two lives wrecked over a couple of insensitive comments.

There don't appear to be any scheduled right now, but they will show up here:

The only cost is the drive to the seminar.

There was an incident a while back here in Austin where two brother started out wrestling in front of a bowling alley (I think) and it got a little two physical and one brother punched the other brother and killed him. Brother was charged with murder. Couldn’t imagine explaining that to Mom.

It is usually not the punch that kills, but what the head hits after.
