Attending a concert at Dell diamond tonight. No game taking place. Can I carry???

I guess no body knows for sure, so I will guess that they aren't posted but will have security wanding and searching. That seems to be the norm for concerts these days. Security seems to be more concerned about bringing in bottles or booze than firearms. At $8 a pop for a beer, they could lose a lot of revenue. Let us know what you find out. Either way, enjoy the concert!

Is Dell Diamond owned by the city/county or is it owned by the Ryan family (can't remember off top of my head)?

If it's government owned, then no one can legally exclude you from carrying inside, but good chance someone with apparent authority will try to do so anyway. If it's privately owned, same 30.06 rules apply as with any private property.

For what it's worth, I attended the opening concert at Cedar Park Center (George Strait) and carried an LCP in my pocket the whole time. Carried there for the circus too. Have not been to a hockey game there. Only time I've been to Dell Diamond was for a baseball game, so obviously didn't carry (and didn't notice any signage either).

I was curious enough to do a quick check. Wikipedia (for what it's worth) says the stadium is owned by City of Round Rock

When you look up the address 3400 E. Palm Valley Blvd. (actually search only 3400 Palm Valley because of search engine bugs) on the Williamson County Appraisal District web site it comes back with NINE different owners (including city of Round Rock twice)

So who knows? Obviously the city owns a huge chunk of that real estate, but which chunk? And how does that apply to the exception found in PC 30.06(e)?

Ha, believe I am going to that same concert good sir. I as well have not been able to find out yet if it is posted or not.

If anyone is interested the entrance I went through only had the TABC unlicensed possession sign. No 51%, no 30.06. Again this was a concert though, not a sporting event.

The city is the only one listed as owning any acreage at that address, so it seems that the city is the landowner at the very least. That brings us back to the ongoing dispute about whether the city owning the land makes any prohibition by owners of improvements on that property invalid under §30.06(e). FWIW, I think it does since the statute differentiates between "property" and "premises," and ownership of the property by a governmental entity is what renders the notice invalid.

Sec. 30.06. TRESPASS BY HOLDER OF LICENSE TO CARRY CONCEALED HANDGUN.
(e) It is an exception to the application of this section that the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035.

You have to remember that the CAD is in the appraisal business for tax purposes. There are two types of property in the Tax Code, real property and personal property. Real property is the real estate (land) and any improvements that are attached to it (buildings, etc.). Personal property is the removable stuff that is used to produce income - furniture, tools, equipment, inventory, etc.

The city is the only owner of any real property at that address, so they own the land and the buildings.

Great point, Steve. I didn't even think to look at the details on all the other tax entities listed on 3400 Palm Valley, but you're correct they're all for "business personal property" .... so I'd say that makes it relatively definitive (as far as we're going to make it with Google Fu) that Dell Diamond is government owned real property.

I would be careful in round rock in general, I hear a lot of horror stories about law enforcement there.

true, but those horror stories are generally spread by criminals.

Round Rock, and Williamson County for that matter ARE tough on crime. I live in Round Rock and these guys do take their job seriously, but not in a Gestapo fashion, just enforcin' the laws.

Granted, the old saying about Williamson County is "come for vacation, leave on probation" .. and that can be true for some, I've been here almost 15 years and every encounter I've had with them (including a few traffic stops) has been nothing but professional.

I don't know. Round Rock PD are the ones who tried to charge those West Texas officers of disorderly conduct because they took pictures in the parking lot of their weapons with some of the female Twin Peaks employees.

All but one run-ins I've had with Round Rock PD had been absolutely professional and very courteous. It's an excellent department.

Not saying Round Rock PD is bad - I have no reason to say so myself, never had a run in or problem with them of any kind.

Again, not disparaging that agency at all, just passing along the info in above link so everyone can know the story who doesn't already.

Thanks for the link. Handog went thru quite a bit of problem for what should have been a simple accidental printing. Really unfortunate.

I have a bad habit of not paying attention at the speed limit signs, thus have been pulled over quite a few times in round rock. The officers I ran into, most have been supportive of concealed carry. Some even asking me about my gears and we got into small discussions. One even said that concealed carry helps fight crimes.

I find that if I'm courteous to the officers involved, it goes a long long way to help me avoiding any paperwork.
