Concealed Carry on Campus Debate Tarrant County College
Next week on April 20th, there will be a debate on the Tarrant County College North East campus on the subject of CHL on college campuses. This is becoming a rather high profile debate and several Texas senators may be attending. I believe our opponents will outnumber us by quite a bit and I would like to encourage anybody that can attend to do so.
It will be held in the cafeteria from 12:30 to 1:30. I also belive that there will time at the end to ask questions of each side.

I muse at the time, and on a Wed too! Just about the right time for the majority of CHL students that I know to be working thier regular daytime jobs. I know this excludes instructors w/ CHL, as the typical lunch break for classes is this time. Either way, just an observation.

I know I'll be glad, and ... Senators and Representatives will have SO much more "extra" time on their hands to do other work, after thy just pass Concealed carry on campus ..then no "local debates" will be needed or going on for Senators/Reps to attend, and students can get back to homework and studies, , and everyone can get back to other business.
Sort of like how 16 years ago it was non-CHLs who decided they should be defenseless, and now unlicensed 18 year olds want to decide whether responsible licensed adults should remain defenseless by some sort of majority vote? If only the CHLs who could carry (the only group affected by the issue) voted, that would be fair. Otherwise it's like asking an entire population at a prison if "anyone" on the prison campus should be armed (thereby disarming the guards). I mean we don't allow other populations to vote in our elections who don't belong to the group affected. (Texas doesn't allow Virginians to vote, USA doesn't allow Russians to vote) So if the only population affected is CHLs, and it mandates whether they are defenseless/deprived of a right or not .... only the population of CHLs votes should count. Ok, you 18 year olds vote on this, and us 50 year olds will vote on raising the college financial aid age to 21, and passing curfews for any unlicensed college "kids" under 30 because we want them to "be safe" ...

[ rant ]Salas said he wants students to understand people who are not even affected by the issue are making the decisions.

Well I don't know if anyone here attended but the debate went very well. The opponents were very unprepared. We were able to make a lot of really strong points that I think swayed some people. We also had a lot more support than I expected.
Thanks,

The more events like this where the good guys can score points, the better. A few years ago, it seems like only the antis were really mobilized. I'm hoping that has changed.Sniper-man wrote:Well I don't know if anyone here attended but the debate went very well. The opponents were very unprepared.
