Is This 30.06 Sign Legal??
For the longest time myself and many friends thought there were no 30.06 signs posted at a major (busy) hospital in Houston. Then, the other day, I happened to notice there are signs posted. So why had I never seen them even though the hospital says it has been posted for years? The sign is posted on mirrored glass at the very bottom of the front entrance at the hospital. On the left of the door is the spanish version and on the right of the door is the english version. When the sliding glass doors open (which are also tinted, mirrored glass), they completely cover both of the 30.06 postings. Is this enforceable??

Maybe not but why risk it? It's Houston so there will be about fifty other hospitals within two square miles. Can you go to another? Now that you have seen it you have been made aware.
My posts on this website are worth every cent you paid me for them.

Did you ask them? BTW, I don't think that you are prohibited from posting the name of the hospital.solne01 wrote:So why had I never seen them even though the hospital says it has been posted for years?

assuming the letters are the right size and if its white on the mirror finish can be seen with the doors closed, wouldnt the english / spanish parts need to be in the same location for it to be legal?

No where in the OP does it state that they have ever carried in the hospital. It only states that they had never seen the signs. Your assumption may be correct but at the moment it is purely an assumption.tacticool wrote:According to the first post, he and his friends have been beating the ride for a long time.longtooth wrote:You will never beat the ride & Doubt seriously there will be any Fees refunded.

I can assure you that the sign is not illegal. It's not legal either. It may or may not be legally binding.

Re: Is This 30.06 Sign Legal??
I know that the original question was whether the sign is legal, and I agree with others that it does in fact appear to be legal.
At the risk of taking the thread off on a tangent, I am curious on thoughts as to whether this sign, as described would comply with the requirements in section 30.06 such that it would be legally sufficient to preclude the rights of a CHL holder to carry concealed on these premises. I realize that this was not the subject of the OP, but I think it is a valid point for discussion.
Given the scenario described, it is entirely possible that I might enter this hospital behind several other people such that the door was open (and the sign was not visible) during my entire approach to and entry into the building. It seems very wrong to charge me with a violation of a sign that I never could have seen.

Re: Is This 30.06 Sign Legal??
I don't believe an inanimate object can be legal or illegal. Only the actions (of a person) related to the object can be legal or illegal. Take cocaine for example. Cocaine in and of itself is not illegal. It is a controlled substance. The unauthorized use or possession of cocaine is illegal.b322da wrote:The sign is perfectly legal.jmra wrote:I can assure you that the sign is not illegal. It's not legal either. A sign either meets legal requirements or it doesn't. But the sign itself is neither legal or illegal.

As a CHL instructor and a CHL holder. I will not enter an establishment that has a 30.06 sign regardless of where it is or how it is written, my credit union has a 30.06 that is not up to the actual code and I do not carry in that establishment. Its not worth it to me. I dont agree with it but its the law. I think in this case you are getting into symantecs and you will lose in court.

Actually, with this thread, I think we are just having fun. Unless of course you were responding to katygunnit who was off topic.texas1234 wrote:As a CHL instructor and a CHL holder.
