18 U.S.C. 930 Posted at Federal Credit Union

Post by Darwood »

There's a Federal credit union in town that post 18 U.S.C. 930. To me this doesn't seem enforceable due to my understanding that a Federal credit union has a Federal charter but isn't in fact part of the Federal government. Therefore the credit union's building would not be a Federal Facility. Am I missing something here, or is this sign actually enforceable?

Of course IANAL.. but

As used in this section:
(1) The term “Federal facility” means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.

Would hardly describe the credit union in question.. me thinks.

Well, maybe. Credit Unions are basically owned by the investors. In this case, the investors would be federal employees. In turn, they would be part of the federal government, and since they own or lease the building, would it be considered owned or leased by the federal government? And, since the employees are paid by the credit union, they would be federal employees.

NAHHHHHH!!!!! Not happening. :biggrinjester:

I don't see it either. Even if they are part of the NAFCU, I don't see how the building or employees are federal employees.
