With the cooler weather.....

It's time to begin to carry "bigger". Either my XDm .40 in my Crossbreed Supertuck, or my Para P12 in my Yaqi Slide with a loose shirt. Gotta love cooler weather. The smaller guns get cleaned, and pushed back in the safe, and the larger guns (more favorable for concealed carry with more clothes) get to see the sunshine for a while.

Anyone else like me?

There's plenty of folks like you that modify their firearm based on weather.

Me, not so much. That doesn't matter though, as defense is an individual decision based on the willingness to accept risk and compromise.

While my arm of choice remains the same, the carry method will now alter and be about .20 seconds faster to presentation...which is good. :)

In the heat, I carry with the shirt tucked over the arm, as I hate dealing with wind/untucked shirts. Now that the weather is cooling down a bit, I can carry either IWB or OWB using a sport coat as cover, which is a little bit faster for me.

Faster is "gooder".

Glock 21 in Supertuck with vest. The neat thing is I carry my 21 in the same Supertuck I carry my Taursus PT140 in. Only thing is the barrel extends quite a ways past the end of the holster and kind of rubs on my side when i am sitting. Drove to Florida like that once and it was def. not comfortable. I'm assuming if I got the correct holster ,the leather backing would extend farther down.

Bigger, huh?

I mean.. I can put a .460 Rowland kit in my 1911... I guess that's the only thing that's 'bigger' than the .45acp I usually carry? :smilelol5:

I've been fearing the opposite. I prefer untucked and, especially with the tips given in one of the PSC seminars, have been able to get to presentation faster than before with a loose shirt tail. I've kind of dreaded the change over to tucked dress shirts, both from a speed of access and printing points of view. I cannot believe that a thin dress shirt isn't going to print a lot easier than my woven summer ones.

I understand that a sport coat over top will make a difference but it isn't THAT cold yet.

My weapon does not change any more than any other time, just my method

I have considered carrying my full size each winter for severel years now, but seems like I always end up going inside and remove my jacket or coat. This leaves me down to the same concealment limitations as in warmer weather.

Oh, and BTW, my weapon, big or small, rarely has the sun shine on them.

Naa. I wear a Colt Commander or full size M&P .357 sig all year around. Cooler weather just means more OWB wear for me.

Once I discovered Comp-Tac, I started carrying my 5" 1911 even in the heat, in cargo shorts and a t shirt. Need to find a few longer, slightly baggy sleevless shirts. Gotta show off the muscles "rlol"
