Traveling and Football game
Well my dad wants me to go up to waco and watch the baylor football game. We are leaving friday and staying in a hotel and waking up early to head to the football game. My question is I want to bring my gun on the trip up there and for friday night, but I have no idea where to leave my gun when I go to the game. Can I simply leave it in the car or is the parking lot off limits? I can't leave it in the hotel because we are checking out that morning and leaving right after the game.
Help me decide thanks.

Re: Traveling and Football game
lock it up (or hide it well) in your car
It is legal to do so, but it is (obviously) not legal to take it into the game

stadium is not in a great neighborhood,,, and it's worse if you don't have a parking pass.
i'd for sure lock it up, but hide everything so they have no reason to look under your seat.

I am more worried about legal aspects. Can in be in the back of the truck in a bag? Does it have to be unloaded or loaded?
We have parking pass as my dads an alumn.

Legally ,it can be loaded in your glovebox or under your seat, though that may not be the best way to prevent theft.Shu wrote:I am more worried about legal aspects. Can in be in the back of the truck in a bag? Does it have to be unloaded or loaded?

But isn't the parking log apart of the campus. Or does campus only mean buildings?

Re: Traveling and Football game
The "premises" of a school as defined by 46.03 "Places Where Weapons Prohibited" only encompasses buildings. You also can't carry at a field "where a school sponsored event" like a football game is taking place, but unless a parking lot is 30.06 posted (Baylor is a private school) you can carry there.Shu wrote:But isn't the parking log apart of the campus. Re: Traveling and Football game
IMHO “Hide it Well” isn’t an option. Buy a $30 gun safe w/tether from Cheaper then Dirt (or similar) and lock it, in a hidden place. Accidentally putting a gun in the hands of a criminal is something I would have a hard time living with. Accidentally running upon a criminal while he was finding your “hidden” gun is something that you would have a hard time living through!

I have one of those small gun lockers that fits perfectly under the back seat of my crew cab. I use it every time I have to disarm. I paid less than $40 for the locker and cable @ Academy. I even got one for my wife and bolted down in the laundry room. She hates the responsability of the big safe, and a key is much qucker than a combonation in a stressful situation. Hope this helps. You can cable it to the seat frame and unless a crook brings a cutting torch it's safe. Bottom line if someone wants your stuff you can only make things difficult but not impossible.

To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic-TN

30.06 Signs don't apply if you are in your vehicle

Even if it's a school:

Re: Traveling and Football game
I wouldn't bet on it until there's court precedent, especially if there's a generic no guns logo also. If you're carrying under the authority of your CHL then 30.06 applies. If you're not then the generic no guns sign applies. Unless you're a cop.dicion wrote:Doesn't matter if it is.

This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.
