Anyone have a Criminal Defense Attorney or a Gun Lawyer incase they are ever in a situation where they will need one?

Hey, if you dont know who to call at 2 AM after you shot a Bad Guy, dont call me.

I just think its "Funny" that people will drop Thousands of a Gun, Hundreds on a Holster, 100 Bucks on Ammo and Magazines.
But
Wont take a Few Minutes to look up a phone number in the Yellow pages of a Lawyer.

Bail bondsman may be more critical than a lawyer.

It is a good idea to have a some names and numbers in your wallet.
And a bondsman.

Just one call is all you need. You can skip the bondsman part sinc emost lawyers can also post bond. Even if yours is not set up to do that, he will know how to get you a bondsman. Bondsman won't even touch you until after you get magistrated and a bond set anyway, so it is much less critical than you might think.

Hmmm . . . all I've got is a business card from the law firm of Dewey, Cheetum, and Howe . . . maybe I should look around some more.

Funny, a lawyer I know told me to not bother to call at 2am expecting an immediate response...He'll swing by later that morning to take care of it...

Advise on lawyers...Do a little research if you are so commited...Ask them flat out how they view the Second Amendment, and how they view CHL'ers and defensive shooting incidents...

I know of only three lawyers (in Texas) that are absolutely understanding (and knowledgable) about the issue, and they are on speed-dial...

Yep, thats about all they can do right away...Which is a good thing, sure you bet...

Speed dials and business cards are fine and well. BUT. The last time i was in jail many years ago (forgot to pay a traffic ticket) by the time i got to a phone i had no wallet, business cards, cell phone or shoelaces...

might be better to leave that info with someone you know that will answer the phone at 2am

I do. One of his areas of practice is weapons violations. He's in Dallas but covers Tarrant county.

That's good advice on vetting them, but how do you even begin the search? There are a lot of lawyers in the yellow pages.

There have been over a dozen posts in this thread, some good jokes (I like Car Talk too), but not a single lawyer's name mentioned.

Does anyone mind sharing their recommendations for a lawyer, and what area they're in? Why's would be nice too, but even having a "short list" to start looking at would be very helpful.

I prefer to spend the "100 Bucks" on the holster, the "Hundreds" on the gun, and the
"Thousands" on ammo to practice with.

And actually I'm very satisfied with a number of sub $100 holsters I've found, but then again I don't actually own any that cost more than $100 - so I may be missing out on something. For IWB I think the $26 DeSantis Insider (IWB) and the $45 (before a referral code; "09-1923" for 10% off an order) Kholsters (I now own 3 of them) are both good holsters and values. And for OWB I'm really liking the BlackHawk CQC 3 - although honestly I've only had it a short while. I certainly don't mean to suggest that a more expensive holster might not somehow be "better", only there are certainly decent affordable holsters.
