30.06 Businesses in DFW area?

#1

Post by Rigby470 »

I am new to CCW here in TX. I live in Fort Worth and would be interested in places that you have found to be posted with 30.06 notices.

I am specifically referring to non-51% establishments, since those are no-brainers.

How about we start a list. You can post the businesses you are aware of being posted 30.06, and I'll update this post as they come in.

Since I'm not aware of any so far, we'll start from scratch.

30.06 Posted Businesses in the DFW Area:

1. The Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) Hurst, Texas branch (30.06 Notice Improperly Posted)
2. NAS Fort Worth JRB (formerly known as Carswell AFB)
3. Lockheed Martin (No sign posted-but company policy states NO FIREARMS)
4. Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie
5. Grapevine Mills mall is posted at some entrances
6. Taco Cabana on Camp Bowie (Letters on 30.06 sign too small)
7. Taco Cabana on I-35 and Alsbury in Burleson (Letters on 30.06 sign too small)
8. Presbyterian Hospital-Dallas
9. Presbyterian Hospital-Greenville (Improperly posted-Ghostbusters sign)
10. The old Schoolbook Depository (JFK Museum)
11. Toyota of Plano
12. The EECU branch in Burleson off Alsbury (30.06 Notice Improperly Posted)
13. Dallas Museum of Art
14. Baylor at Irving
15. API Ketema-Grand Prairie
16. Texas Instruments-Main Campus
17. Whole Earth Provision Co. at Mockingbird and 75 in Dallas
18. Presbytierian Hospital Dallas
19. Presbytierian Hospital Plano
20. Medical Center of Plano
21. Harris Methodist Ft. Worth
22. Medical Center of Arlington
23. Medical Center of Lewisville
24. Parkland Hospital

The Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) Hurst, Texas branch has a window cling located on the interior glass of the lobby entrance that contains 30.06 language and cites the statute, however it is not displayed in the legally authorized layout i.e. size of letters, background color, Spanish translation, etc.

I know there has been some discussion on military installations. I don't know if there is a blanket rule that applies to all bases or not. But NAS Fort Worth JRB (formerly known as Carswell AFB) has a sign posted at the main gate.

Lockheed-Martin, who shares the flightline with the JRB does not have a sign posted at the gate but the company policy states no firearms are allowed. Period. The only ones with firearms are the uniformed security folks. No other exceptions.

It would be really great if some techno-savy forum member could setup some sort of 2D map (or a google earth save?) of the metroplex with pinned locations of know 30.06 postings. Or even a list by zip code of reported sightings of 30.06.

Vought Aircraft in Grand Prairie is posted like crazy. Grapevine Mills mall is posted at some entrances. I haven't seen very many posted businesses in the DFW area (thankfully).

Taco Cabana on Camp Bowie has a 30.06 sign but the letters are too small, something on the order of 1/2 inch.

Taco Cabana on I-35 and Alsbury in Burleson -- same sign.

Something like this might be made to work. Since, we could all have access.

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

Frappr maps are great (I own 3, for different groups I belong to).

But, they only let you map by zip code, unless something has changed recently. That's to assure confidentiality to users. They wouldn't work so great for mapping specific addresses, such as business that ban.

By the way, we do have a Texas CHL Forum Frappr map:

Only 24 members, since it hasn't been promoted lately. Please sign up!

Kevin,
I figured it out. We can add places. Even by address. When you look at the map it will show people and places. Clicking the people or place icon at the top right above the map will turn a set of icons on or off.
So, if you want to see the places, click off the people, etc.

There is street level mapping the more you zoom in. I added the "U.S.P.O. 30.06" (USPost Office) as a test.

Adding the address might seem a bit weird. The format is Odessa, Texas USA 200 north Texas.
I think this can work.

If you're going to have a 30.06 Frapper, I think it would be better as a separate map. I hope more people do sign on to the "member" map.

Presbyterian Hospital is posted with a legal 30 06 sign on the entrances I have used.

The old Schoolbook Depository (JFK Museum) is posted, and since they have metal detectors, it really doesn't matter if the sign is a legal 30 06 sign or not. It's been awhile, but I think it's just a typical "No Guns" sign.
Do you know about the TEXAS State Rifle Association?

Toyota of Plano

I didn't notice until after I had bought a vehicle there. I wouldn't have bought from them if I had seen it first. They did follow up with a phone survey and I told them how I felt. The lady had no idea what I was talking about of course, but she said she would write down my comments.

The EECU branch in Burleson off Alsbury has that same sign, about 3/4 of an inch high and only in white letters in English.
