I think I already know the answer to this question, but would value input from the very-helpful folks on this board.

Bought a 'Cell-phone holster' style pouch for the Ruger LCP recently.

I think this thing screams "CHL! CHL!"... but maybe it's just me. I guess technically it is 'legal', since it 'conceals' the gun where untrained observers cannot detect what is in the holster. But it just seems to obvious to me. I did wear it to Wally-World last night, and didn't get any weird looks, but I felt slightly awkward. It's my least favorite option at this point. I would prefer to use my inside-pocket holster or ankle holster, if at all possible.

Thoughts anyone? Does this rank slightly below a fanny-bag?!

If you are wanting to know if it is legal, the answer is yes.

It doesn't scream anything except: Some kind of clunky thing hangin off a guy that few have even a slight guess as to what it really is...so relax.

Agreed. Now I can't tell from the pic and don't want to make you more paranoid, but make sure it doesn't look like and expensive clunky thing hanging off, or avoid taking in crowds where pickpockets could getcha.

Just looks like a gadget box otherwise. The advantage of our current time is that lots of people have stuff hanging off their belts now.

I think it looks alright. It surely doesn't scream "GUN". Is it comfortable? How about quick access?

frazzled - That's a good point. I'll keep that in mind. Last thing I want is somebody pick-pocketing a gun off me!

thankGod - It's reasonably comfortable, yes, although it seems to stick out a little too much. I was wearing it around the house and in not long at all forgot I even had it on. It is a lot larger than most cell phone holsters though!
My wife was actually skeptical of easy access, but I gave her a demo, and she was impressed. You can basically just open the flap and in one motion come back up with the gun pointed outward in the business position.
The FOSSIL pack... looks very refined. Wonder how the size compares.

the average person will have NO clue. People aren't geared to think "gun" all the time. You're paranoid.

That being said, I have never seen someone with a cell phone holder at 4-6 oclock. If anything it is at 3 (or 9 for the lefties). that and it looks purty big to be a cell phone.

When I am going to run up to the movie store with the kids, I OWB my 9mm (about the size of an average person's hand) at 9 oclock and no one has ever said a thing.

I used to wear a vest that one might say, "screams CHL." Once in a while, a security guard would approach me and say hello. I figure they were just making sure I wasn't acting suspicious. If that ever happens to you, just be calm and act like you belong there.

i just got my lcp , and it seems to fit nicely in my front pocket .

it does print a little , but i haven't found a good slim pocket holster yet .

To original poster. You're fine wearing that thing. We all might think "gun" but that's because we all think about guns more than the average Joe. I see folks wearing items like this all the time. I have dabbled in carrying small gun and/or extra magazines/speed loaders in various belt pouches (tried out a lot of NiteIze) stuff, also various small tool pouches etc. If your general appearance looks like someone who works with his hands for a living (construction etc.), then I think you have a lot of good option methods to conceal (tool belts, pouches etc). But even average Joes can be found wearing various belt pouches to carry phones, cameras, etc.

I agree it does look quite large - like it might fit a larger gun than the lil LCP. Maybe also fit a S&W J-frame or Kahr? Where did you buy it?

While I don't have my CHL yet, I have been practicing around the house. I have discovered that the KISS philosophy works best. Keep It Simple, Silly. Try to apply it to everything I do. I have a simple little Blackhawk IWB holster for my Beretta 92G and they wife doesn't ever know if I am carrying or not. Unless she hugs me. I tried carrying strongside, but found it printed a little too much, and I can cross draw from the weak side just as fast, with virtually no printing. I'll be investing a more durable holster soon, but will definitely be keeping it simple.

It looks like any number of the PDA's/Pocket Computers on the market today. I have the LCP as well; rear pocket carry. Looks like a second wallet. I like the PDA case idea though.

That was my first impression too.

I was looking for the holster, then I realized the big black thing that should have a cell phone in it WAS the holster.
so, I figure you're doing okay.

Why not the TCP 738 from Taurus ?
