Lake Travis is a Lower Colorado River Authority controlled lake, so the lake could be posted, but I believe the park and land is maintained by Travis County, so they can't post the park itself. However, I doubt the lake is posted. Hopefully someone else will wander by that knows more.
SB 535 Carrying on LCRA Property
• Creates exemption for CHL holders from Parks and Wildlife Code prohibition
against hunting with, possessing, or shooting a firearm on the land of the Lower
Colorado River Authority
• Prohibits any state agency from adopting a rule that would prohibit a CHL holder
from entering or crossing the land of the Lower Colorado River Authority under
certain circumstances
As to Travis county....
Sec. 229.001. FIREARMS; EXPLOSIVES. (a) A municipality
may not adopt regulations relating to the transfer, private ownership, keeping, transportation, licensing, or registration of firearms, ammunition, or firearm supplies.
(b) Subsection (a) does not affect the authority a municipality has under another law to:
(6)regulate the carrying of a firearm by a person
other than a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, at a:
IM JUST NOT THAT CONFIDENT IN MY READING OF THE LAW - I too hope somebody can come in with a definitive answer. My understandingg was that after 2007 the LCRA may no longer restrict CHL and that municipalities are specifically preempted from doing so either!
My whole confusion comes from this on the Travis County Parks site:
"Weapons, Firearms, and Fireworks - No person shall possess or discharge weapons, firearms, or fireworks in any county park. "
this has to be invalid! Grrrr
