We are taking a trip to Arkansas soon. Is Texas CHL recognized in other states, namely Oklahoma and Arkansas since I will be traveling through them both? I not on my person can I have firearm concealed in vehicle? I remeber my instructor mentioned some states that recognize and some that do not, but I could not locate info on DPS website.

Here's the DPS webpage for reciprocity and unilateral. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... rocity.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Arkansas and Oklahoma were the first. Make sure to check their laws on prohibited places, etc.

I'm in the processes of figuring out all the specifics for PA myself. I found a PA gun forum similar to this one and have been asking PA specific questions there since I figure they'd be in the know :)

The one thing you need to investigate is the laws of each state you go through. Like I have the Utah CCW which is a permit to carry a concealed weapon, but in Minnesota where I live, the law is permit to carry. It can be carried in the open on your person, but requires a permit to carry to do so. What happens with my Utah CCW, it's governed under Minnesota law. The same would apply through the other states you go through. Have a good trip.

I always fly, not much for multi-day drives. Finding out some interesting things already... such as in PA you can open carry in bars if you want (not that I plan on doing that of course!).

I am rather surprised that this place isn't mentioned. It is the most accurate reference to where we in Texas can Carry with our CHLs.

There seems to be a conflict between http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... rocity.htm and the site above as to whether there is reciprocity between Texas and Washington and California. Anybody know what's what? :headscratch

If health and finances permit, Mrs. Oldgringo and I may RV down the Pacific coast from Washington to Northern California this summer. I guess we'll have to really conceal our concealeds when we cross Oregon?

The link doesn't work.
But I believe that is the site that documents which states Texas Acknowledges and accepts their CHL .. The map is a list of places where we texans are welcome. California doesn't want us Texans and our guns. Texas is more hospitable

WHOOPS! I didn't read the note below. Now comes the question of why we would allow the left coasters to carry here if we can't carry there? Who needs 'em?

Unless it was rescinded or something, it appears that a reciprocal agreement was signed between California and Texas in 2005? Agreed, other than gawking at the coastal scenery, we have no business there either.
There has never been a CHL/CCW reciprocal agreement between California and any state.

No.

Texas granted unilateral recognition to concealed-carry licenses from Wasthington and California.

Washington does not recognize Texas, allegedly because we allow some people under age 21 to get CHLs.

California does not recognize any other state's license.
