Hey everyone, I'm new to the whole CC thing. Just applied (DPS recieved my app on the 1st of December).
Couple of questions:
1. I have read the 1,000,000 membership for NRA drive. What are the advantages to this?
2. My in-laws are from Kansas - so we travel often back and forth. While I am waiting on my CHL, what are the laws governing carrying a loaded handgun in my truck?
I know that in Texas I can carry in my truck without a CHL under the Castle Doctrine - just not sure in Oklahoma and Kansas - any help would be appreciated.
3. I'm in Arlington. Is there a local NRA or other sort of gun club I could become a member of?
Thanks for any and all advice/info.

The goal is to recruit as many NRA members as possible. The upcoming presidential staff and many new congress members are not gun friendly and we need as many people supporting the NRA to help lobby against the anti-gun people as possible.

It isn't actually the Castle Doctrine in Texas, but the Motorist Protection Act. As for your travels, you cannot carry in your vehicle in Oklahoma or Kansas without a permit. Once you receive your Texas permit, it is reciprocal with OK and KS.

I am not sure about some of the clubs in that area, but I know there are members that will be.
Thanks for any and all advice/info.

Welcome, ChiWeiSz.
Regarding gun clubs, the Grand Prairie Gun Club isn't that far from you, but there are plenty or ranges in the DFW area if all you're looking for is a shooting range.
