I moved to TX last June, but due to house-hunting I didn't get my drivers license until January. Took the CHL course about 4 weeks ago but I've been holding off sending in the packet 'cause of the 6 month rule, which I now find out is no longer a requirement. Sure wish I'd known that a month ago.....

Anyway, during the class the instructor stated that TX does not check with CA regarding criminal records. Do any of you know if this is true?

I've checked with the Clerk of the Court in CA twice, both times they've indicated there are no arrest records showing for me for the time frame I lived there. If I had ever been arrested in CA it would have been more than 10 years ago - and it wouldn't have been for a felony.

I've purchased a couple of handguns and received an AZ CCW permit in the last couple of years, no problems were encountered doing so.

Since I can't remember being arrested in CA, I left the arrest record portion of the TX application blank.

Hopefully I can mail the packet off tomorrow with no worries.....

I'd say if you can't remember being arrested, then you're either clear or you had too much free time of your hands in CA.
