Couple of newbie CHL questions...

I sent off for my CHL on the 20th of last month (Feb) so i should have it in around a month or so. I have a couple questions about places that are or aren't OK to carry.
Zoo's. Are these considered gov't property? As far as I know they're privately owned but i wanted to ask anyway.
State Parks. Would i be right to assume it's not legal for me to carry while in a state park?
I had another one but forgot it... doh. I'll edit this if I remember.

Don't know - I think some zoos are public. And if they are public (state or local) then you can carry. Just watch for the 30.06 sign and let that be your guide.

Incorrect. State parks are open territory. National parks are off limits. The state cannot bar you from utilizing your CHL except for a couple of very specific circumstances and a state park is not one of them.

Please add a new post for anything you forgot. I'll probalby miss an edit, but not a new post.

For Zoos it depends who owns it. The Dallas Zoo is owned by the City of Dallas. A city owned facility cannot prohibit carry under 30.06, but they can if it is a place listed under 46.03 or 46.035.
Amusement parks are listed under 46.035
(1) "Amusement park" means a permanent indoor or outdoor
facility or park where amusement rides are available for use by the
public that is located in a county with a population of more than one
million, encompasses at least 75 acres in surface area, is enclosed
with access only through controlled entries, is open for operation
more than 120 days in each calendar year, and has security guards on
the premises at all times. The term does not include any public or
private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking
garage, or other parking area.
The Dallas Zoo is 95 Acres, open year around and if it has more than 1 ride I guess it would qualify.
I just called the main number for them and the lady told me they are 30.06 posted, but she did not know under what listing.....

Thanks for the insight on state parks. I did a little more looking around and found something on packing.org that seemed to say that concealed carry in a state park was legal, but I wasn't sure if i understood it right. Thanks!
I thought the amusement park law was effectlively repealed. Or am i misunderstanding you...
From what i understood if an amusement park was not displaying a 30.06 then you were allowed to enter...regardless of "who owns it."

You are right. The Dallas Zoo is posting though.

So the Dallas Zoo is posting correctly and legally...hmmmm
I wonder if the Houston Zoo is following suit...
I haven't been there in years, so I can't recall it ever being a personal issue with me...
And since Houston lost its "amusement park", its almost like places are going out of business that could restrict based upon being covered in the law, or being able to post their properties...
Not sure if thats a good or bad thing...
