I was the only one using a FEG hi power. The rest of the line have GLock 19s . What have you observed on your end?

Everything. Glocks are not as overwhelmingly common in my classes as people seem to think.zigzag wrote:I was the only one using a FEG hi power. The rest of the line have GLock 19s . What have you observed on your end?

The brand I saw most was Glock, but the total may have been about 1/3. There were also a few XD's, Sig's, and a few 1911's, and the rest was composed of everything from a WWII-era P-38 to a really nice Walther P99 (mine, of course...).
My Walther probably garnered the most attention, as it was the only one there. For my renewal I'll take my P5c, which should really stir them up.

At my renewal last June I was surprised to see a bunch of 1911s. Other than that there was a pretty good mix . I would say that 9mm was the most common caliber.
There was one .32 acp shot by a female and she was very good with it.

I'm just disappointed that .223 isn't considered ".32 and up" so I could qual with a PLR-16.Dan20703 wrote:At my renewal last June I was surprised to see a bunch of 1911s. Other than that there was a pretty good mix . I would say that 9mm was the most common caliber.

OTOH, if they ever do away with SA/NSA, I'm going to track down a BFR in 45-70

I see lots of Glocks. Mainly because they are mine. We use 9mm Glocks for rental guns.
But I see a wide variety of other stuff, as well. A few Kimbers, S+W's, and Rugers. Springfield XD in 40 seems to be the fashion statement here lately. Somebody must have run a sale on them...
And, interesting enough, I saw the same High Point show up at 3 classes in a row. I know it was the same one because it was always carried in a sock. Not a gun sock mind you - a TUBE sock. And each of the 3 guys swore they didn't know the guy who had it the class before. Very strange...

I dont know cause i didnt look. i used my Taurus 24/7. i know the instructor had to assist one fellow quite a few times cause he didnt know very much about the pistol he was using? he also said that Glocks (most rented) are the most common that he sees cause the shooter does not have to manipulate any safeties...

As an instructor, I see all kinds, but predominantly Glocks and 1911's.
Most instructors do seem to have at least one Glock available. We ran over 40,000 rounds through a 17 before I traded it and got a new 19 a year or so ago.
While quite a few folks carry Kel-Tecs, funny that very few folks opt to test with 'em.

I carry a KT p11. It's a joy to carry. It's not fun to shoot (for me); the very light weight transfers an unpleasant amount of recoil to my wrist. Maybe I'm a wimp, or maybe it's that I broke my strongside wrist at boyscout camp when I was 12. The Taurus PT111 weighs a bit more but feels to me like an even sharper recoil. I carry them to the range for familiarization firing but not for fun.Greybeard wrote:While quite a few folks carry Kel-Tecs, funny that very few folks opt to test with 'em.
Anytime there's more than one mag to shoot I reach for the Ruger P95. Shoot all day until you don't want to any more (or run out of discretionary ammo funds). The wife likes it, and actively dislikes the carry guns.
