BTW, edd@ksevradio.com no longer works.

Someone needs to swing by Taste of Texas to confirm the posting. Take a picture if you can. The next time I'm on that side of town, I'll drop by and see for myself.

HAS it been added to the Texas 3006 website, or are we waiting confirmation first?

I cannot tell you how disappointed I am to hear this. I have listened to Edd for several years and he has always represented himself to be strongly pro 2A, then I hear this? I went to Pay Gray's website and listened to the podcasts until I found the call. Our OP was quite lengthy in his call, so I cut down the call to about 1:30.

Edd definitely sounds hypocritical when in one sentence he says "I support the right to carry, strongly" but has no problem at all disarming customers that want to visit his restaurant. I will be sending an email or letter to him and the station, letting him know that I will no longer visit his restaurant or listen to him on air.

I put the mp3 up for you to listen to his comments. Note: This has been edited and is not the complete conversation.

After listening to the clip, it's my opinion that the context with which the call was made seems to be intact. Edd is very clear that he does not allow patrons to conceal carry in his restaurant. That seems very evident by this clip of the recording of this show.

As the owner of a private business, it is certainly his right to post a 30.06 in compliance with the law.

It is also certainly our right, as CHL holders in a free land, to decide to no longer patronize his establishment. Based on this recording, I also move we add it to the Texas 3006 website to let our other brothers in arms know that Edd's place of business is persona-non-grata to CHL holders.

Let's let Edd know our displeasure as well.

This seems hypocritical of the highest order.

Thanks for posting the clip ghentry.

When I heard it on the air, I didn't catch the part about "high profile clients that require it as well." I wonder what this is about? Could it be due to them possibly having armed security with them and not wanting confusion if there is a shooting?

I also forgot how condescending he was to the caller as well. :mad5

We ate at Taste of Texas this evening and didn't see any 30.06 signs. Perhaps we didn't look hard enough.

The food was good but not great. At their price point, there are at least a dozen restaurants in Houston at which I'd rather eat, so I'm unlikely to go back. I suppose the Texana kitsch might be popular with out-of-town guests but I don't see much else to recommend it.

My wife and I listened to the clip a moment ago. Here's her take:

"I have a high-end restaurant full of high-profile clientele and we're completely unarmed. It's a gun free zone; a target-rich environment just waiting for some crazed, self-loathing psychopath to commit his fame-seeking murder/suicide."

I guess I don't have the mindset of Edd Hendee or his clientele, but to me, advertising that my business is a gun free zone would be more of a liability than an asset. Isn't that the sort of thing you want to keep to yourself?

And for the record, Edd, I will no longer entertain clients at your establishment.

Apostate , I appareciate knowing that you were in the restaurant and noticed no 30.06 posting. I was concerned that I had missed the signage and had carried in defiance of the posting in my last several visits. This had caused me great angst because I am usually very diligent in checking for 30.06 postings. Thanks for the report. :tiphat:

Unless they're hiding it... :headscratch

I saw plenty of signage including a standard "unlicensed possession'" notice inside the vestibule, as well as the "this building didn't exist yet" plaque outside the front doors, but no 30.06.

wouldn't surprise me. He openly supports the Red Chinese Government. He went there a few years ago and gave his American earned dollars to the Communist economy. He then came back to brag about how wonderful it is in China.
