I'm not sure what you think needs to be done. Take away his CHL? Meaningless. Take away his guns? Illegal and he could just by another.

Try to find a way to connect him with the proper help. This is a tough one for sure.
I absolutely agree, take his CHL or guns away, he still has knives, chainsaws, and any other inanimate object. The issue is the mental health of the person. As a society we are too quick to dismiss the weak, they need our help, when they dont get it things deteriorate and we blame them and not ourselves (thats not to say 100% of the blame is on any one group).

When I suffered the darkest time in my life, at no time did I arrive at the thought that killing myself was the answer, but I did remove all the guns in my house and left them with a trustworthy friend (in locked cases). There comes a time where you dont know where reality starts and ends, and when the imaginations start taking over reality, there is a problem. I knew that I didnt have thoughts of hurting anyone including myself, but I also knew that I was losing control of what I thought was real. I gave them up for several months, I felt naked without my guns, but at that time, I felt I was better off dead if trouble found me (due to the situation, I wasnt looking for an end, but I certainly wasnt going to stop one). I spent a couple months in counseling and after a few months, I retrieved my firearms and began carrying again.

My friends never forced me to give them up, they supported me when I asked what they thought. My counselor and physician both looked uneasy when they 1st asked me if I was carrying (during the 1st visits) but they never asked me to disarm, just suggested I look into it. I did what I feel was the right thing, and im sitting here able to tell you guys.

I appreciate that no one told me to give them up, but I knew I had to consider it.
