Duplicating information that is easily available from an accessible source is rarely a good idea, so copying to a file would not be a good idea. However, an app that uses the phone's GPS to search the website for nearby 51% locations and display the results could be a minor convenience. But since the website is so easy to use, it's probably not worth the effort to create.boba wrote:It could, but if you have an Android or iPhone you probably have a data plan and can go to the website and check for a 51% license at the place your family or friends want to go. That way it's up to date.joelamosobadiah wrote:Theoretically (I'm not a programmer) couldn't this info be parsed into an Excel or csv format and put into an Android or iPhone app that would use location services to search for 51+% locations near your current address? Wouldn't think it would be too difficult...

Wow. This has been a long time coming.
I did a couple of quick searches on Austin venues of interest to me...
Stubb's - Blue sign. They've had the red signs up at the entrance for quite a long time, and I always questioned them. It's not a cheap venue for shows, it is all-ages, and they serve food. My suspicions have been verified.
La Zona Rosa - Red sign. Another one that I've wondered about. For the longest time they didn't post ANY signs. They're also all-ages, but do not serve food, at least as a restaurant. Their ticket prices aren't nearly as high, so I guess they make the cut to be above 51%.
The Broken Spoke - Red sign. Though they have a restaurant, it's primarily a dance hall, so I always wondered about the place. I guess I don't have to wonder any longer.
Spider House - Red sign. This one really surprises me. This place is a coffee shop that happens to sell alcoholic drinks. This honestly doesn't seem right to me. I haven't been in a while (guess I won't be going for a long while), so maybe the hipsters are drinking more Natural Light these days.
This tool is awesome!

Somebody over on TX3006.com said in April that they viewed the license and it said SIGN=RED....NcongruNt wrote:Wow. This has been a long time coming.

It's possible the outdoor venue is licensed separately, but I could never find evidence of that. I never went and got the license directly from them, though. He didn't happen to post the license number, did he?

No he just said he talked to the manager and looked at the license. It's possible he saw it wrong. TABC only shows one licensee at that address, so he may have been mistaken.NcongruNt wrote:It's possible the outdoor venue is licensed separately, but I could never find evidence of that. Now if we could get things fixed for businesses that are "determined" 51% but don't make that much from alcohol sales.

Hipsters drink PBR, not Natty Light. Living in Austin, you should be aware of these things.NcongruNt wrote:I haven't been in a while (guess I won't be going for a long while), so maybe the hipsters are drinking more Natural Light these days.

(Actually, my favorite is Shiner, but I this is now WAY off topic.)

Double ditto on the Lonestar, as long as it is the regular, not the lite. Lets not overlook Shiner in this listing. My favorite is the old original, none of their bock variations.
If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

You're right about that. PBR is what I was thinking, but couldn't get it off the edge of my brain. I stand corrected.hirundo82 wrote:Hipsters drink PBR, not Natty Light. I avoid hipsters like the plague, so that's why it wasn't as easy for me to remember.

Re: 51% lookup now available online @ TABC website!
Why is it when i try to look up a business, i get "no records found"
I am trying to look up
Brick House Tavern and Tap
35th & Seawall Blvd.
Galveston, TX 77550
When I put just the business name in, with City and Zip, or when I put in the address (it wont take "&" i changed to "and"), I get "no records found"
I have tried to look up various others in the past, and get the same no records found...
Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong?
thanks

Being overly specific w search terms can backfire.
