...I would...haven't heard or read of ONE person getting arrested illegally because of misunderstanding or misapplication regarding 30.06...our street officers are about 10x more savvy on the fine points of laws than we were back in the 70s...but I still don't ask cops to explain laws I can read for myself...they're just too nice guys to be lawyers...what DID I say???

I just agree to not let them catch me and continue. I assume if someone of his ranking is that ignorant, he can't be alone.
It seems rather Early for the Heartland to be so harsh towards legally carrying citizens. Perhaps the local law enforcement needs more or better training.

LOL, obviously you know the area! When you drive into the parking lot, there is a metal sign affixed to the stop sign that says "No concealed handguns." Of course not enforceable, so I go my way, but they are trying to apply that even to the parking lot. Fortunatly, it is now the city police who patriol rather than off duty troopers. Several years back, there was a kid here in town that went gunning for his parole officer, and was on his way to the courthouse to get him. He was stopped before he got there, but (I am told by many) that's when all the signs went up all over town here... none of which are enforceable, but they think they are. Even more rediculous was the kid wasn't a CHL anyway!

Since they don't have x-ray machines or metal detectors, it is highly unlikey they would know you are carrying CONCEALED in the first place. The ONLY way they would know I had a CONCEALED weapon is if I had to use it to defend my life while in the establishment.
