That's good info - thank you for posting.

A note of advice, add a little white space (i.e. the return key twice) - it helps keep your postings readable.

My daily carry. home or away, is some sort of pocket pistol.
If I had a situation at the house with a hostile intruder, I want to have something a bit more potent to go to, without twirling the knob on the safe.
So we do have the usual bedroom hardware - nightstand pistols, and a short-barrel pump.
But i also keep a revolver in the office and a 1911 in the library. Both are in those "daytimer" cases and sitting among the books in the bookshelf. I can find it in the dark easily. And if I need to check something out outside, I'm just carrying a book.

Not the ideal situation, but it works for me.

Wally 775,

All of the advice you give is good. And I DO carry my pistol pretty much 24/7. However, if I have the time, I go to ole' Bessy. Bessy is a Remington 870 12 ga 3". I have several hidden in my house. False door Jams are a door to a place where Bessy lives (She has a sister too). Cannot be seen, are up high enough and hard enough to open, to keep kids out.

If I have to use my pistol, I will. However, I like ole' Bessy better.

Can you elaborate on how those are made, or how they work?

Hmmm, seems to me one a kid (any kid) sees you open it, it will NOT be too high, or too hard to open to be safe from them.
