Masaad Ayoob goes through the exact 5 steps that USA1 has given here. For those not aware, Ayoob is a lifetime LEO and trains LEO's and others in guns and tactics. Also, even if the BG now appears to be dead, tell authorities you want to prosecute them. This makes it clear that you are the complainant victim. There is only one complainant, and the one who first makes the call or asks for the other to be charged is listed.
