This sounds like a situation where personal responsibility trumps legislation.
As I see it, nearly everyone feels they know their limit when it comes to drinking and driving, yet there are many drivers being stopped and/or arrested for DWI. They fully understand the law, yet choose to ignore it because, for one reason, they were just enjoying themselves too much. I don't know if it would be the same with guns.
I'm sure there have been many studies and statistics on drinking and driving in order to come up with an appropriate BAC, it isn't an arbitrary number. I wonder if there have been any studies on drinking and shooting. I'd volunteer! BTW, I've had darts thrown at me in a bar by drunks thinking it was funny. Fortunately, I didn't have a gun.
I know my limit, it is zero BAC. I feel the difference before I finish my first beer. But I wouldn't dare to suggest that everyone is the same. Given the laws and opinions regarding firearms, specifically with alcohol use, you are taking your own chances if you choose to drink and carry.
As far as drinking in the confines of your home, the question still arises, are you willing to compromise your safety and that of your family by impairing your judgment? To me, it's like not carrying , sober or not, just because you are running to the grocery store or the gas station. Chances are nothing will happen if you aren't carrying or are somewhat impaired, it's your choice if you want to take that chance.

I believe there is safety in numbers..
numbers like: 9, .22, .38, .357, .45, .223, 5.56, 7.62, 6.5, .30-06...

Re: wine tasting
Unless you show visible signs of intoxication when the police arrive, there will be no proof that you were anything other than stone-cold sober, nor are there any requirements that you answer any questions about your sobriety. (There's no "implied consent" to a BAC test unless you're driving a motor vehicle.)WildBill wrote:What if you were at home drinking the bottle of wine that you bought at the winery and somebody with a gun broke down your door. Are you going to do nothing because you're drinking or are you going to defend yourself? . . .
