Thanks everyone. I feel better prepared knowing a little bit about the area I will be going to. Houston is not top on my list of places to go but I still intend to enjoy the company of my friends. We plan on being out of there well before dark. Thanks again for all the info.

Agreed, westchase is pretty affluent. But I don't know that westchase goes that far south?

I don't know what the boundaries of WestChase are. The district headquarters are on Richmond, which is about a mile north of Harwin. My recollection of that area is that it's mostly office and commercial buildings.

West of the beltway on Briarforest is one of the largest Katrina evacuee's spots. Anyone familiar with those apartments at wilc[r]est and briar forest know what I mean.

There are a lot of scummy apartment north of Briar Forest, west of the Beltway. Also along Beechnut near the Beltway.

There are few places in Houston that are more than a mile from a high-crime area.
