Military discharge for personality disorder

The OP in that thread was at first denied the veteran's discount for his general discharge under honorable conditions. He consulted with a Texas state senator for clarification of the actual law (code) that defines CHL qualifications and pricing. Supposedly DPS changed their interpretation of the law and the guy ended up with the discount and a CHL with the word Veteran on it.

Another poster in that thread spent only a month in the service and was discharged for a preexisting health problem. Initially his discharge or separation did not include the word honorable but he appealed and had it changed. His argument was that he had enlisted and was ready/willing to serve - therefore he deserved some credit.

I am not trying to get a discount and don't think that I deserve one. I just want my CHL.

This seems like a way for the military to kick people out and not have to ever cover disability or VA benefits. It doesn't answer the question about getting a LTC. Sounds to me like a dirty trick the military uses to save money. Do you have a document that says "honorable discharge"?

Except under some very specific circumstances, one is not entitled to disability or benefits until they have completed 180 days of service.

Separation initiated 180 days or less is a normally entry level separation and is an "uncharacterized " discharge Not Honorable, Dishonorable, General, or anything other..
For Service related terms..:personality disorder, is generally defined as a long-standing, inflexible pattern of behavior that deviates markedly from expected behavior, has an onset in adolescence or early adulthood, and leads to distress or impairment.

So it does not necessarily imply anything debilitating.
