Re: First time carrying and seeing Bogus "No Handgun" sign
I always wonder why anyone cares about irrelevant signage like that? It's simple, only if a building is compliant with law in prohibiting CHL holders from carrying or law itself prohibits it. Otherwise it doesn't deserve an time being wasted on it.
A lot of old invalid signage still exists out of shear laziness or the simple fact that no one ever thought anything about it in the first place and probably has gotten so used to it being there they don't even realize it's there, or what it is.

Can you point out any case in the last 17 years since CHL was passed where someone "took the ride"? I can only think of two.... Handog who was charged with failure to conceal and dropped. There was a nurse in Arlington who carried past a "non-compliant" sign and charges were dropped. I don't spend a lot of time worrying about signs. I carry when I carry and I obey the law when I have been given EFFECTIVE notice.cw3van wrote:Just remember if police are called & the officer feels that effective notice was given you will take a ride & lose your right to carry until the case is disposed of that could take a while.

There's a sign like that, a 'Beretta-Buster' but in English only, at the front entrance to our office building. I smile to myself every time I walk by it carrying my Beretta.
I think these signs are often posted to keep the non-CHL public comfortable thinking they're safe from us gun-packing Neanderthals. Of course, the bad guys won't obey the signs, and when one of 'em shoots somebody in the building, the management can say, 'But we posted a no-guns sign!'

When I see a compliant sign, I tell the business I'll honor their wishes by taking my business - and my money - elsewhere.
When I see a NON-compliant sign, I quietly ignore it and say NOTHING. Maybe they're pro-gun and trying to placate the sheeple knowing that CHL holders will ignore it, or if they're anti-gun, well, why educate them on proper signage?

I've about decided to go ahead and label myself as a "criminal" so I can get the bull out of the way and not have any guilt about carrying. They don't care, so why should I? I'll be happy and the Libs will be happy.
