I don't have the personal experience to compare it to the 36, but I have found my XDs to have less perceived recoil than several of my "pocket" 9mms. The angle of the grip also feels better to me than do Glocks. I am very partial to it and recommend shooting one.

I'll have to find a range that rents them and try it out.
