Yep, that's the version that I was reading. No dice for the coworker's wife, though....

so File a complaint with DPS for the instructor teaching incorrect information and requiring something the state has not mandated
...And PAY for your CHL class. The law used to be minimum 9mm for SA IIRC. .380 is more or less a 9mm (short?) so they were excepted by most. I would say thank you for the free class and have her shoot a borrowed gun. My wife has had to do this, hates it, but she does it.

People really shouldn't dog on smaller calibers so much. My mother has lupus and fibromyalgia. Because of this she does not have the muscle strength most people do. This is why using a .22 or her .25acp works much better. She can't hold up heavier pistols very well and managing the recoil can be an issue. Plenty of people have been killed by .22's. If you think a bigger caliber makes up for poor shot placement, you need to get real. I don't know anyone that is gonna keep advancing while getting hit with .22lr,.25acp or a .32 especially if you hit them in the face.

But since she needs a minimum of a .32 "caliber" to qualify what rounds qualify as .32 "caliber". I have a police positive that shoots .32 s&w shorts. But it is a revolver and her 25acp is a semi-auto. I would want her to get the semi-auto permit but I don't know what the smallest round is that qualifies as .32 caliber. Help please?

.
the folks with which my Wife and I are taking our classroom/shooting portion of our CHLs require a handgun of .380 or more - no big deal - she's using one of our Glocks in 9mm and I'll be using a Glock 9mm or .40cal - or my new Browning HP 9mm :woohoo - 10th of February by the way - and we have "favors" bet on our shooting outcome..... :cheers2:

I was unaware that Texas had a minimum caliber restriction to qualify with. I am not in Texas yet but I maybe there by summer, do they still have the revolver and semi-auto requirements? I do remember reading that if I qualify with a semi-automatic gun I am able to carry a semi or a revolver. Is that law still in effect?

Yes! With Semi-Auto qualification, you may carry SA or revolver. With NSA, you may not carry semi-auto.
.32 cal minimum to qualify.
