On a nother note I think this thread is getting way off topic now. I take a shot and try to get it back on track. In that situation I would have made my self a very fast moving target while going to my side arm and keep moving this hes has stopped moving toward me.(One way or the other) And then a nice tactical reload from cover and his friend had better hope that hes dosn't make any threating moves casue I wuold make him stop his actions too. In that situation it would be them or me and I won't make it easy.

Ooooh, sorry about that Attila.
Anyway, I really like HV's solution. Repair it somewhere safe, if possible.
However, in the situation described, and said individual had already been hostile and erratic, combined with the new threat of producing a pistol, then really the talking is over, since it had no effect but escalation the first time.
I doubt he brought a friend and a firearm to help me fix the vehicle.

I find it hard to believe that any 12 good citizens of Texas would find that, when a stranger who had aggressively acosted you returns with another person and a visible firearm, you were unreasonable in your belief that he meant to do you grevious bodily harm that could cause death. At this point deadly force in your own defense is legal.
Tactically, I agree that moving the vehicle to a safer location is your best bet. People have been killed by careless, inattentive and drunk drivers while trying to work on cars broken down on the side of road.

Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

gee, whatever happened to dos and basic a?
you guys really are nerds
as for the "situation", I really believe I would have called for a wrecker immediately and not have attempted a repair on the side of a potentially accident prone highway. The fact that the "crazies" showed up more than once is a tough one to deal with, particularly for individuals that are unarmed. I really don't think I have ever been "unarmed" on the side of the highway. I don't know karate, judo or jujitso, but I did know "tire tool".

It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!
