My after action report: no signs, no security checks - carry on.

I haven't been in quite a few years, so it was smaller than I remembered, but a good stock of vendors. Sadly, no home brew stuff anymore - I guess a lot is changing.

Glad I got there early, parking was a disaster.

The signing of HB910 was the reason I couldn't go. I couldn't say that earlier.

Charles, what gun store was the signing at? I thought that was a cool deal. LOL propaganda at its finest.

It was at Red's Indoor Gun Range in Pflugerville.

We were put there by the photographer. At 5'9", I'm shorter than the other guys so I can be seen in some photos, but not others, depending on the camera angle.

Kinda figured that ham radio would take a back seat to that event. :anamatedbanana Perhaps next year.

Did you attend any seminars? Will you go back, perhaps next year? I really want to go, but unless it's a lot better than some hamfests I've been to lately, it won't be worth the drive to Dallas.

Saw you in several of the pics that I saw, but in one of them all that could be seen was some of your hair.

Of course if I had been there, they would have had to powder my head to cut down on the glare.

I usually don't attend seminars, except maybe AMSAT. I needed to find a repair facility, and pick up a few specific things. I did get a lead on repairing my old ICOM.

From what I saw, the browsing wouldn't be worth the drive, unless you had some other reason to come to Dallas, or were looking for a specific item.

If you're into DX'ing, contexting, AMSAT/space satellites, or QRP, the forumes are usually pretty good. Download the Ham-Com brochure to see a list of the ones offered this year and remember that Saturday is the day of the forums. Moh, and the National Weather Service always offers a SkyWarn training session with usually both Basic and Advanced being offered. I'm not sure if they offered Advanced this year, though.

There were a lot of flea market tables that were available both Friday and Saturday. I think that was because a lot of the people who normally purchase flea market spots outdoors didn't do so this time, seeing that all of the flea market was indoors in the main hall. I know a couple of folks, me included, who might have done an outdoor spot but held off to see what it would be like at the new venue. I'm guessing there'll be less vacant tables next year.
