Need Trigger Work from Gunsmith

#1

Post by Running Arrow Bill »

Afternoon!

I would like to have a "better" trigger assembly for my Baretta 96FS that has a "light" pull. The stock trigger is about 10-12 lbs and too heavy for me now. I'd like to get a unit with 3 to 4 lbs pull.

Are there any Gunsmiths in our area 79095? Preferably with 50 to 75 mile radius. Would also consider SW Oklahoma (Sayre, Elk City, Altus?). Don't want to go to Amarillo or Lubbock; and, have it done "while I wait" so I only have to make one trip.

Appreciate comments on feasibility as well as available Gunsmiths.

Thanks y'all!

Running Arrow Bill,

This is just general advise, but if you buy your trigger from a small business, they will sometimes be willing to do the swap out at no extra cost. Of course, you need ask for this service up front. As I have 2 left thumbs when it comes to such things as trigger swap outs, I threw myself on their mercy.

When I bought my Geissele triggers for my 2 AR's from Primary Arms, while I waited, they were were kind enough to do the swap out at no extra charge.

They're a bunch of good guys there and I wouldn't be surprised if such great customer service is available elsewhere, when not Cabelas or Bass Pro, etc.

Years ago, whenever I bought bicycle parts from a certain small business, their policy was: buy it here and we'll install it at no extra charge.

Such service is still available, though becoming less so...

Good Luck!

I know you wanted a local place, but Wilson Combat does work on 92/96 handguns as well.

Beretta action work starts at $110.00.

Do a search for "D" model spring for your 92 FS. It is available from Beretta as well as Wolff. Easy drop in change and will not effect dependability. I have done this and it is great!

Good Luck,

I'm with Jeff. Spring change is a breeze. About a 2 min. job. Push in on the lanyard ring, remove the pin, take out the spring, put the new one in, press in the lanyard ring and replace the pin. Takes longer to get the grips off than to change the spring. I bought a "tuning set" from Wolfe for mine that allowed me to fine tune the DA pull. Reduced mine to 6. As for the SA pull, that is another story. That needs some polish work but I found I didn't need it after changing the hammer spring.

Try ordering a spring set first. You may save yourself some money. :tiphat:

"Sounds" easy to replace the spring. However, I have trouble even breaking down my 96 for thorough cleaning. No way would I attempt trigger work...LOL. Bill

Bill, have you tried calling Trading Post & Loan in Childress? (940) 937-2800

ArmsDealer.net indicates they have a gunsmith there. Don't know them. Never heard of them, but it might be worth a phone call.

Bill - We use a great company in Denton for all our gunsmithing work. I know it's far, but you could ship it to them, they do the work, and ship it back to you. If you are interested in going this route, let me know, and I'll get that information to you.
