Me too
I voted around 10:50 AM
There were no other voters.
Just the poll workers and me.
I did see that my wife really did vote.

three minutes in Texas City (The poll was actually in Lamarque)
I ran into my seventh grade history teacher...introduced him to my Wife and was told that I was loitering and needed to leave the voting area. We were across the street next to our cars! I obeyed, but still think it was a bit extreme. People are prancing around nude in front of the White House today and I was told that I could not say hello to an old friend who helped shape who I am....on a public street. Just venting....anyway, I did vote.

I am a Precinct Chair and Election Judge in my neighborhood...
Out of ~ 3800 registered votors in my precinct, 491 showed up yesterday and voted...I've been clerking and running these polls since 1992 in the same area...
Yesterday was a pretty good turnout considering the type of election being conducted...
As far as problems, I really didn't incounter any other than the two or three nutballs who were about as smart as a bag of hammers to begin with...But I certainly did my impartial best to accomodate them and make sure they felt good about voting for whatever that wanted to vote on...
As far as poll security, I have that under control...Not a problem needing elaboration...
I could write a book on where I think this country is going in regards to the way people conduct themselves when they exercise this right as a citizen, regardless of political affiliation...
I know where I stand on issues, and love to talk and debate about them...
Maybe it would be good to start a political/news thread section to allow some to get their opinions in in regards to the issues...
I know that is hard and may consentrate a precentage of discussion that may take away from the technical aspect of the forum a bit...
But I think the participation of folks here is a lot more civil than other places where some (in those places) get into non-productive off-topic discussions that do not really contribute to the whole...
But thats just my 2 cents worth (adjusted for inflation)

I was told to leave the area by a toll worker. I am about as peaceful as a person as you will ever meet and very rarely find people that act agressively toward me....but this guy felt that it was necessary. I did not argue or say a word...I just honored his wishes. I respect our right to vote more than I do my right to bull with an old teacher. I just thought it was a little excessive.

You said you were across the street. Were you within the "no electioneering" zone?jbirds1210 wrote:I was told to leave the area by a toll worker. If not, I believe I'd have had to query the poll worker about his authority to tell you to move along. I don't see the right to vote and the right to converse being in conflict if you're out of the restricted zone.
But, that's just me. I value my right to bull on the street, and I take great umbrage at self-appointed petty dictators.
