You'll still be able to enjoy the fall colors, should be a beautiful drive. Be safe.

I have driven from TX to NC numerous times. I make a cheat sheet too. It covers the major variations like notifications to LEOs, restaurant carry, signs, in car vs. on person, etc.

IIRC, NC doesn't allow you to have a handgun with a round in the chamber in the car but it is OK if on your person. Or some other variation on that theme. I forget.

NC has some strange laws as well. One is no carry at a parade. I think they used to have a law that you could not carry at a gathering of people, which the way the law was written would preclude you from carrying at the movie theater. I believe that was removed a few years ago though.

OK, apparently the parade prohibition was repealed with the theater was back last year along with the theater prohibition which was any place that charged admission you couldn't carry at http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/0 ... -carolina/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Incorrect. If you have a permit you can carry concealed on your body or concealed in the vehicle with a round chambered. If you do not have a concealed permit, then you must carry openly in your vehicle, but there is no restriction on loaded or not.

See page 21 section D and also Q&A page 38, question K
