Re: The FBI announces it will be going 9mm
There will always be a caliber war of some kind... I'm just not too sure why. No single gun, caliber, bullet, holster, etc. suits everyone best. I love my 1911's and do shoot them more accurately and with faster follow ups than my 9's but it's not always feasible to carry the 1911 depending on where I'm going and how I'm dressed. I don't feel "undergunned" with the 9 but if I knew I was going got need a gun, I'd have the 1911 with me. That is my best option. To each his (or her) own, half the fun is the journey and getting to try out lots of carry combos!

IMO, there's too many sissy's who complain about their manicured hands having to shoot a larger caliber handgun, but there 's nothing we can do about it. I think 9mm-.40-.45 are all great, but the switch was most likely for money or political reasons. If they really wanted a median between .40 and 9mm, they could've dumped money into the .357sig which has a duty model by glock already. But they went with the notably cheaper platform, and one nobody has much room to complain about, unless big john is taking bullets and still swinging his pick axe, everybody should be theoretically "better.
Cheaper munition, less recoil, more platforms available with a smaller grip, more capacity, with only the loss of power. I think it's smart, but I what let me officers carry whatever the feel comfortable with. If you shoot better with a .40cal XDM, a 9mm S&W M&P, or Colt .45 1911. Granted my mags wouldn't match to my partners, that was the cost of carri what we were comfortable and Good with. Heck, my LT. used to carry a Ruger .44mag Super Blackhawk on his side! He was batter with it than with a glock 22, so if I needed to stop a bear, I knew who could get it done.
It really sucks for those FBI guys forced to change their duty weapon to something unfamiliar, and having to trust their lives with it. They are the victims in this.

Give them a few years. They will change again. After all it isn't their money. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

OPM (other people's money), there's an endless supply. Use it or lose it.
