I do understand there was some DPS discussion about changing the CoF to include strong-hand and weak-hand at the closest distance, but that didn't happen.

We (CHL forum members) could create the Texas Professional Concealed Handgun Association. We would elect a board of directors and create professional levels of training, both practical and classroom. We could have members apply for levels of different levels of status that show progressive amounts of experience/training and assisting others.

The board would review applicants for the "status levels" training and other requirements and issue applicable certificates of status.

For example, the Texas PI association (TALI) is a private association and not affiliated with the state. TALI created standards of conduct, training and skills, and has a status called "TALI Professional Investigator" that the state allows to be placed with the state PI title. Hiring a PI with TPI after the title insures that your investigator has proven his experience, skills and knowledge to his peers.

Part of the status would be regular qualifications.

Some of you smart folks could perhaps come up with an Acronym that would describe the association and be cool.

TACHS Texas Association Concealed Handgun Shooters.......kind of like the tachometer on your motor....gives you feedback on how hard your motor is working

And hey if this is getting off topic of the original post...what the heck.... I'm the knucklehead who started this mess asking about an unsubstantiated statement from my CHL instructor.

Perhaps this deserves its own thread txinvestigator?

It sounds like a good idea to me.

Have you considered floating that idea past the Texas Concealed Handgun Association?

In large part, I like the idea. The difficulty I see would be in the potential liability of any organization if it became an "endorsing" body. You lawyers have a thought on that?

Logistically this would be impossible. I carry guns for a living and only have to qualify twice a year on each.

Now, can you design a PATCH patch?

Methinks the word "knucklehead" is more applicable to the other party in that sentence.
