LOLOLOLOLOL umm please urinate in the cup to the line and do not flush! your talking San Antonio the second or third largest bastion of liberalism in the state of Texas. I don't think that there is a weapon friendly hotel/motel in SA or within about 50 miles of it

Avoid any Hilton owned properties. Most Marriott owned properties are OK.

Stayed at the Crockett w/o issue. I'm sure the Menger would be fine too.

Re: Looking for CHL Friendly Hotels Near Riverwalk
Last year wife and I stayed at the Drury Plaza, but that was before I had a CHL so was not looking for signs.... its a converted hotel from the old Alamo State bank building.... stained glass window over one set of doors, buffet style breakfast and dinner, serve drinks in the evening, not a regular bar so dont think its a RED sign.... basement access to the Riverwalk... vaults still in the basement.... pretty nice hotel.... rooftop swimming pool and hot tub.... fantastic view at night....

I understand there is room for growth, but Embassy Suites is the only thing listed on 3006.com
I know, as already stated, Hilton is not CHL friendly.

Remember that almost every restaurant on the Riverwalk is RED 51% signed so you have to be careful where you stop for food. Also remember that San Antonio has different, and stricter knife laws than the State of Texas...

Yup, among other things, knives with locking blades are illegal to carry. So make sure you grab the Case Mini Stockman and leave the Spyderco at home!Maxwell wrote:Also remember that San Antonio has different, and stricter knife laws than the State of Texas...
We stayed at that Embassy Suites on the Riverwalk the last time we were in SA. Never again. It was a very nice hotel, but it was "full-service", so every time I turned around I was having to tip somebody for stuff I could do myself. The valet parking was awful, too. It took them forever to bring our car up to us. I didn't notice it then, but now I know that Hilton-branded hotels are not gun-friendly, I'll for sure never stay there again.

How can you tell Hilton hotels are not gun friendly? Is this just a SA thing or a nation thing? I usually try to stay at Hampton Inns and never see anything antigun.

Concealed means concealed. Stay at any hotel you want. I'm not driving around town looking for a CHL friendly hotel when traveling. I sure as hell am not going to leave it at home. And sure as hell not leaving it in the car.
Re: Looking for CHL Friendly Hotels Near Riverwalk
I have seen (or seen pictures of) 30.06 signs at a handful of Doubletree and Embassy Suites hotels (Hilton chain). I have never seen a sign of any sort at a Marriott property. I like Marriott because I know they are CHL friendly or at least CHL neutral. And they have a wide range of chains to meet my every travel need. Consistent quality across the lines. A Fairfield Inn is the same everywhere. Fairfield, low end. Courtyard, up a notch. Townplace, Springhill, Residence Inn - suites of varying characteristics between the brands. Of course Marriott's, then Rennaissance, and JW Marriott resorts in ascending order of "quality" and cost. Rewards program shared by all brands and they are everywhere, sometimes even next door to each other, Courtyard/Residence Inn, etc. Marriott has 2 hotels on the riverwalk and a Courtyard a block away, if I recall correctly.
