Hi, sorry if this repeats an existing topic (I did search), but I'm planning on going to the Zilker Park Kite festival next weekend (Mar 9) and can't seem to find anything definitive about carrying in the park. If it was anywhere but Austin, I wouldn't be all that concerned, but Austin is known for its 'unique' perspective on stuff like this. (Probably can carry a bazooka as long as it's not in a plastic bag.)
I found the following on the Austin city website and it shows that weapons are prohibited except for (1,2, 3) and was wondering what y'all think. Can I carry?
Thanks.
1.10 WEAPONS AND FIREARMS
A. Patrons shall not carry or possess weapons or firearms while in park facilities or wildlife preserves except;
1. in those facilities where usage is appropriate,
2. as allowed by state and federal gun laws; and,
3. when otherwise authorized by the Parks and Recreation Department.
B. The use of firearms, air guns, pellet or B.B. guns, bows and arrows or projectile devices capable of
inflicting personal injury is prohibited unless conducted under permit or in an authorized park facility. (City
Code Sections 10-1-4, 10-1-5, 14-1-6).
C. No patron may display a firearm or other weapon at any park facility or wildlife preserve in a manner
calculated to alarm or threaten anyone. (Texas Penal Code 42.02)[/size]

2. As allowed by state...law
A CHL allows you by state law to carry a concealed firearm. You're good to go.

You should be good to go. DON'T leave valuables in your car. That is a target rich environment for thieves. We'll probably head down and check it out as well. Good times

That's what I thought, but it's nice to get learned opinions.
Thanks.

An attorney once told me that literally anyplace that does not have a 30.06 sign (except for schools and such things listed), you can carry in the state of Texas with a valid CHL.
