I didn't realize that Red McCombs was so famous [and so wealthy ;-) ].

It has been reported that Mr. McCombs has quite a gun collection, including several Gatling guns.

I wonder if he knows about the sign at his dealership?

That's what I was thinking too. The man gave almost 1/2 million to Rick Perry last election too I believe.

their right to not allow you & me to exercise ours.
I don't think a complaint from such a small segment (chl holders) worries businesses much.

I would think that a person who has a huge gun collection and contributes to politicians who support the rights of gun ownership doesn't think that way.

This dealership has been posted since at least 2010. Just a piece of paper on the door of the parts department at first. I mentioned it to a salesman when looking at cars on the lot, telling him for this reason I would not buy there. At first he suggested I just ignore it, then said he would talk with his manager. I told him to tell his manager because of their policy I would not buy there.
I wouldn't be so sure the owner doesn't know, regardless of his personal gun collection or political donations. Most people at that income level donate to both sides.

Instead of point out it is not valid, I would card them and say simply, "I have purchased 3 vehicles in 6 years here, and now with this sign, my business is going elsewhere"
I would NOT let them know their sign is [possibly] invalid however.

REPLY FROM TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS

#23

Post by ATDM »

Here is the reply I received to my email. I addressed it to Toyota Headquarters, since there is absolutely no info on how to contact Red McCombs corporation, other than phone numbers. And I thought talking to people, who answer phones, would be a waste.

Hello...,

Thank you for your email addressed to Mr. Lentz which has been forwarded to the Executive Offices of Toyota Motor Sales for review and response.

We apologize to learn of your concerns with your local Toyota dealership and appreciate you giving us an opportunity to assist you.

.... If you would like to discuss your experience further, please contact me at (310) 974-7519. I am available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., PST Monday through Friday.

It is through correspondence such as yours that we are able to continue to improve our services, and we sincerely appreciate the time you have taken to bring the matter to our attention.

Aren't these independently owned dealerships? I don't see how sending it to the US headquarters (especially in Cali) is going to be effective.

Believe it or not, I would simply tweet them.

I had a situation at a car dealer, tweeted the dealership and the owner and they were falling all over themselves to correct it. Business are VERY afraid of negative tweets.

Don't be ugly about it, I would just simply state "Just a heads up to fellow CHLers, gun owners, hunters, and outdoorsman @redmactoyota does not want or need or business!!

I would bet they reply very quickly about why you said this...then you can ask why they would post 30.06.

Although they are independently owned, I am sure that Toyota Corporation is interested in making more sales through the dealership. They may not be able to give orders, but they may be willing to request some type of policy change to protect their interests.

Regardless of that, it was the only choice I had, since there is absolutely no contact information (other than phone numbers) for Red McCombs management, or corporate, or even local dealerships.

Jim Mangano- General Manager

I would assume anything addressed to him and sent to the dealer would reach his desk.

So, how did the call go? I'm curious how a Japanese company's executive offices in California responded to your complaint about a dealership not allowing you to carry a gun.

Agreed.
I suggest addressing the envelope "PERSONAL" to make sure it gets opened by the General Manager.
