Outback Steakhouse following Starbucks

Ha! That's why its so tough! I've never had Australian water buffalo but I imagine its a close comparison to outback steaks. Another post said Golden Corral steak is better and it actually is. I've eaten steaks there many times when my kids were still home and they picked the places to eat out at. I'm kind of addicted to Sweetie Pies Rib-eyes in Decatur if I must eat steak cooked away from my grill.

If no 30.06 / 51% signage and food is good, I really don't care about "No Gun" signs. If the food is bad, not going at all - even if they had "Guns Welcome Here" signs. Not sure where I could buy bulk liquor if "No Gun" signs kept me outside the liquor store.

There's a huge difference between 30.06 and 51%. One is law and the other is choice. I can never remember having given my money to a business that has a correctly posted 30.06 sign and will continue that practice if there's any way possible.

Hmmmmmm... haven't eaten steak at Outback since they removed Ripper Shrimp from their menu. But I sure do enjoy the Prime Rib...with horseraddish ....ummmmmm good!

Have not been to one in over 15 years but as long as they don't have a 30-06 I will eat there if the food is good. Last time I went to an Outback the steak was good but was overly salted. We don't have one in my community. They know what a 30-06 is and if they want to keep the CHL out they will use it. They also know that CHL knows that the sign they posted means nothing. Let's not destroy a business trying to walk a tight rope.

These signs are also used by businesses who don't want to put up the 30.06 sign because they don't want to alienate us (the CHL community), but they want the anti crowd who doesn't know the statutes to feel like they are on their side. I've seen this happen when headquarters issues a mandate to put up "no gun" signs, but the local management doesn't want to, so they "tongue in cheek" put up a worthless sign to look like they comply.

If this is the case, I give them credit.

There are no facts to back up this statement. This is just more justification to spend money in an establishment that really doesn't want your gun or your business.

I agree with Right2Carry on principle, but I do know of a business that does exactly that. The small branch of my bank put up a gunbuster sign. Since I knew the manager personally and her firearm views I asked about it. She said, "I'm not going to put up a sign that will keep me from carrying." She has since moved on, but the gunbuster is still there and I still carry right past it.

So, it does happen, but unless someone knows Outback's reason for sure, I will assume they don't want my business.

The intent of the company does seem clear, barring further information to the contrary. Another commenter said that this signage has no meaning for someone with a CHL. This is partly true. The signage has no legal meaning for someone with a Texas CHL at an establishment in Texas. However, this CHL holder considers it meaningful in the context of what businesses deserve my patronage (or not). Also, I can do a bloomin' onion at home, and my home-grown beef is noticeably better than what they serve.

Amen. My first assumption is that they mean it, but either are not smart enough or do not care enough to put up the proper signage, either of which makes them ineligible to receive my money.

Without something in writing from the owners saying otherwise, that's what I think. It may be legal to enter those businesses, including some anti-CHL gun shows, but I won't give aid and comfort to the enemy by spending money there.

They do indeed respect my right to carry. Otherwise they would post 30.06. I will never understand why any CHL would care about a sign that isn't a 30.06 or a 51%.

I've had a water buffalo steak in Kenya. It was better than any steak I've had in Outback. And I've had steak in Australia that was also better than any Outback here.

We go to Outback ever now and then because I like their Prime Rib and my wife will only eat their Potato Soup.

Really? You couldn't be more wrong.

I'm in the restaurant/retail business and I know of three different restaurant franchises who do exactly this. Corporate says put up a sign, but doesn't specify which one.

Thanks for the info - I thought such might be the case. It's a compromise I can live with.

Some of us though seem too rigid to process this information with a "you must do what I demand attitude or I'll hold my breath until I turn blue"...
