Or live in the country where venomous snakes are common enough that at night you DON'T want to walk in the yard without a flashlight.

During the day I've had many a cottonmouth and even more coral snakes than I can count in my yard.

I even had one coral snake make a beeline for me while shaking out fire ant power on a mound and stepped back from bending over just in time to notice it. It wasn't acting aggressive so much as curious. Weird...

Rather than a No Trespassing Sign consider posting a Venomous Snake sign.
