Re: Date night gone wrong
She was originally from Maryland. Which explains a lot
Prior the incident we did have a great time. Of course I gave her a ride home, My mother would have had my hide otherwise.
I cant speak to why she got in the truck with me again but she dang sure got out as soon as I slowed down in front of the house.
She told our mutual friends "Thanks for hooking me up with a gun nut" .
If only she knew...

Ah, the convoluted trappings of setting someone up. I'm surprised that one of your friends wasn't better informed about either of your leanings.
Good first post & welcome aboard!

So succinctly to the point. Amen.MotherBear wrote:If people with guns are so dangerous, why did she ride home with you rather than calling a cab or a friend? If I were afraid of people with guns, I sure wouldn't knowingly accept a ride from one.
Does she take rides home from other dates that do "bad" things? Her brain and her heart were in disagreement but she didn't realize it. Her brain knew she was safe. Her heart wanted to have a political temper tantrum.

That gives as whole 'nuther meaning to the term "getting lucky!"

Great analysis, I think that is exactly what happened here. If she thought she was truly unsafe, I wouldn't have expected she would have had him drive her home.goose wrote:

Oh well, at least it worked itself out on the first date. Maybe the open carry proponents could use this as an example of why OC is better.

Not many first posts generate 3 pages of responses -- sorry we're getting a chuckle at your expense.

Wow! That is the best first post ever. I am sorry your date turned out that way but please forgive me while I mop up the coffee off of my desk. On the bumper stickers, situational awareness...situational awareness!Sparky3131 wrote:Hello, this is my first post in the forum

Glad you figured her out this early on, it saved you untold grief further down the road.

Well, you certainly were a gentleman about it.
I never thought about the bumper stickers! I'll be watching for those when my daughter starts bringing dates home.

If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

my daughter took a "world view" class and one of the lessons was about what you could learn about a person from their bumper stickers. We still play that game when we're in traffic....it's actually kinda scary.

Re: Date night gone wrong
Given that my daughter shot her first .22 at age four, I'd say she'll have the opposite reaction: "Daddy, I wanted to go out with this guy, but he DOESN'T carry a gun. How can I trust him to take care of me if he will not take care of himself?"CHLLady wrote:I never thought about the bumper stickers! If that's the dating conversation I have with her when the time comes, I'll be proud.
