Re: Poll: What Caliber Do You Carry?
Wow - I was going to do a poll regarding semi auto v. revolvers. I can see that would have been a waste of time. I am surprised that it is just me and an anonymous friend that prefer the wheel guns.

You mean like SAS and SEALs?Pecos wrote:People think the 9mm is for sissys, but not true!
Those guys shoot so well, and practice so much, they could use .22 shorts or pellet guns and still get it done because shot placement is everything.
I read in some article about SAS that they must be able to put 5 shots out of 5 in a playing card from 25 yards, while running flopping on the ground, rolling around then shoot, with a 226 or similar.
Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

I'm probably 50/50 between .45 and .357, but I voted .357 just 'cause it appears to need the love. =)AlaskanInTexas wrote:Wow - I was going to do a poll regarding semi auto v. revolvers. I carry a 40 and a .357 backup most of the time. The .357 goes with me everywhere although the 40 is left home or, a 9mm or a .45 jumps into my holster. They all go bang, and they all do the job. ![tiphat :tiphat:](./images/smilies/tiphat.gif)

Ok, so I'm the only one so far that carries a .32.
Can someone tell me what ACP means? Lol.

If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you carry a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

Automatic Colt Pistol. I think technically ACP should be used in reference to a gun chambered in .32 Auto, and the cartridge should be referred to as .32 Auto. potatoes...CHLLady wrote:Ok, so I'm the only one so far that carries a .32.

45 myself -- really surprised by the amount of 9's being carried -- i have seen two shootings where 9mm was used and neither shooting did the guy fall, get knocked down or even really slowed down by the shots -- first was a friend of mine that was stupid and got into an argument with a group and one of the guys ended up shooting him twice with a 9mm he busted out running and I thought they missed but turns out they didn't he ended up running couple miles being shot twice in the back -- another was hpd going against a guy with a knife, the one officer shot him twice also and he didnt even seem really phased then other officer shot him with 45 twice and he stopped in his tracks stood for about 10 to 15 seconds and fell dead

I carry a .45acp. Why?
Because a 9mm only kills your body. The .45, it Kills Your Soul!

Re: Poll: What Caliber Do You Carry?
I carried a 45 gap once...
I lived in norcal a few years back and my .45 1911 was my standby.
I went to a local store and purchased 45 acp shells and didn't look at the box.
I went walking on my property and as my dog barked (I dismissed my dog) I was standing within 25 yards of a black bear.
I racked my slide and experienced my first ftf with my trusty Springfield 1911.
I chased the bear down the road, thinking I was safe...
I got back home and started investigating why I had a ftf and realized my local gun shop gave me 45 gap vs 45 acp...
I felt dumb to say the least.
If you force 45 gap, it will chamber into 45 acp...fyi
45 gap sucks, :)

Re: Poll: What Caliber Do You Carry?
My "Other" is a .22 WMR, which I pocket carry at home and around town in a NAA Pug. It therefore gets carried most often.
However, if I was traveling I'd carry a .357 and/or 9mm.

Re: Poll: What Caliber Do You Carry?
I've got a 1911, Glock 29 and a Walther PPS all in the rotation.
The Glock is the default for IWB when I tuck in my shirt (aka most of the time). I tried it with the 1911 when I first got it and while I can IWB it, I don't enjoy IWBing it. The full size Colt is about an inch too long and pokes where I'd just rather not be poked. The baby glock fixes that issue (and carries 10 rounds to boot). The Walther works well in cases where the Glock doesn't fit right. (is something wrong with me for adding a gun instead of retiring pants?
)
For days when I go untucked, the Colt becomes the default....just because. Unless I'm out at the farm. My S&W 629 is the default out at the farm. No worries about the stainless finish or banging it on stuff (it has a nice padded nylon holster that can be abused).
